It's like the old joke, "Other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"

Didn't they say that the Jan 6 rioters were all actually Antifa, BLM, FBI agents, or rogue Disney animatronics? 🤔 Also I'm sure Jewish Space Lasers had something to do with it.

You, Sharon and I share this confusion. Who are we going to believe? Mike or our own lyin' ears?

What's the confusion? Consistency is for rubes and memory is something to be sneered at. *raspberry noise*

This guy oozes duplicity! He is added to the group who pose a clear and present danger. Oh, and can some bible thumper explain to me which version he uses to "guide" his decisions?!?

He isn't Biblically-based, not in the least. At best, he's mis-applying what he thinks the Hebrew scriptures say in terms of retribution and righteousness -- and he's wrong on that, too.

How is it that white evangelicals can gloss over all the justice and equitable distribution of God's Earth that we read in the Hebrew Scriptures: resting on the 7th day, forgiveness of debts on the 7th year, caring for the widows, orphans, and resident aliens, leaving the gleanings from the fields, etc., etc.? Did the First Coming abolish all of that? I think not.

It seems bible thumpers lack critical thinking. Is this taught or ingrained or both?!? The founders certainly knew the dangers of religion and made certain to call for separation of church and state. The MAGA cultists have disregarded that founding principle and now seek a country based on christian (I refuse to use capital C) nationalism....scary!

To be honest, I don' t remember this being at all encouraged in my own fundamentalist church. We argued. We discerned. We then were often led to an attempt of a literal interpretation of the scriptures, but those of us who paid attention knew that was impossible.

The remark was doubly stupid since DOJ already has the unedited video. And anyway, I thought the rioters were all Antifa?

Well, we've moved on from that statement to "these are God-fearing Amuricans exercising their right to overthrow their guvmint. And Ah hepped."

We read it as confession, but I think it's often intended and typically functions as claiming rights and space. :(

What a phony (and kinda dumb). If Johnson had a video of the cruxifiction, he’d blur the faces of the Romans and collaborators if it was politically expedient.

Now I'm picturing Johnson holding Jesus up for redemption-- or else!

Who’s he trying to fool? The FBI already has the original recordings. Any “blurring of faces” now is the very definition of a moot point. All Johnson is doing here is kowtowing to the GOP “base,” which is already turning against him after he dared to compromise on a deal to keep the federal government operating. Johnson and his ilk have no interest in governing; they simply want absolute control.

Is he blurring all the faces? If he only blurs some of them does that mean he knows something that we don’t? Will DOJ compare their copies with his edited ones to see if they missed anything?

B Keck's avatar

Who knows? Perhaps. But I'm not entirely convinced that he will really do it at all.

While it's almost impossible, on the surface, to take any of this lunatic circus seriously — there continues to exist the very real possibility that the malevolent orange gasbag may indeed end up back in power, with his toadying (but armed to the teeth) henchmen ready and willing to do his bidding. And his bidding will have no association with governing — it will be in settling imagined scores, and cozying up to Putin and assorted other fascist dictators. I would like to laugh, but this scares the sh*t out of me.
