Speaker Johnson's bowdlerized videotapes or your own lyin' eyes?

If you go here, you can listen to the Speaker of the House, yet another flawed man who is a short hop away from the presidency, explain that the Republicans will release videotapes from the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection as soon as technicians have blurred the faces of the insurrectionists because, says the speaker, “we don’t want them to be charged by the DOJ.”

Uh…Hold on there, Mike. Some of us — we who still embrace the rule of law — do want them to be charged by the DOJ. And characterizing an attack on democracy as “events of the day” is a ridiculous attempt at reframing one of the most consequential anti-democracy act of this century.

Honestly, the longer this guy is in office, the less he seems capable of doing the job and I cannot say my expectations were overly high starting off.
