I have a tender spot for Jon Stewart. Always have. I would like to see our society widen our understanding of "the vote." It is (and can be) much more than ballots cast in the middle school gym every two years. It is (and can be) the ways we treat our sisters and brothers, the goods and services we spend our money on, the way we live in harmony/discordance with the earth's natural systems. Truth is we all vote many times every day.

S.C., I believe you are preaching to the converted. If folks are following you, they already understand the need to vote on local and national issues and are more than likely to do so. Thank you for your on-point calls to action.

I mostly preach to the converted choir, because the people I'd convert don't read me. I don't much blame them.

Here's a list of candidates and sample ballots for CT. I'm only voting for the Democratic candidates for Secretary of State and Treasurer, but other towns my have additional open positions.

I'll be in person, as well. And I'm be in Lyme getting election results for the AP (as part of a fundraiser for my beloved League of Women Voters). The one main thing I miss from working in journalism full-time was the high holy days of election.
