When I was a child, my mother told me that the British press would say that some public figure appeared “tired and emotional,” meaning drunk.

ETA after going to "the boys in bombers": Actually, I think he's just learned the very publicly apparent lesson that though when women display anger or intensity that nullifies anything they say*, when men are angry or on the brink of tears That Shows Their Seriousness and Intensity and You Should Pay Attention (or they'll get way scary).

* When women appear cool that of course displays their lack of passion, which is also disqualifying.

The game board is tilted toward the man. Yep. I am sorry if he’s still struggling — truly — but he is not a serious leader at a time when we could use one or 200.

That he assumes

Women are OK with the blanket “boys” tells me plenty, the asshole.

The rapist/felon and his "boy" at DOD removed several women from their leadership positions in the military. So for the DOD "boy" to say he was happy women pilots were among the crews is just another display of shallowness!

Without a doubt - the drunk who gets weepy over nothing but because of their drunkeness. My friend’s boyfriend was a drunk and at times instead of being the “happy” drunk or the functioning drunk, he’d tear up and become the weepy drunk talking about his pet dog, favorite football team, favorite ball player etc. that’s what was going on with Pissed Pete at the presser.

He’s unstable, just like his boss. He should not be in this position of power.

The early hour of the Pentagon briefing triggered a memory. I had to deal with someone at work who had a severe drinking problem. Although I didn’t report to them directly, they were a person in authority who I depended on to get things done. Over time their staff taught me discretely, sometimes cryptically, that mornings were bad because the boss was hungover and/or sometimes still a little drunk and consequently emotional, disagreeable and unfocused. They would say it’s better to wait till after “lunch” (read liquid lunch). The staff was right. The boss’s afternoon behavior was always more steady and they were so much easier to deal with. Watching Hegseth reminded me of that, although I doubt he’s ever easy to deal with.

I’ll admit not losing much sleep over it but once I knew it was an open secret I began to wonder if I was enabling them or just manipulating them to get my job done or both. If I had chosen to be the one to shine a light on it, it would have definitely cost me. It made me appreciate what it must be like to be a family member of an addict. All that being said, I won’t be mustering any empathy for Hesgeth.

The President’s National Security Council is the latest chapter of the Trump administration’s “He-Man’s Women Hater Club” and Tulsi Gabbard is the new Darla.

Some background on “The Little Rascals”, which turns out to be an emotional age appropriate analogy. The He-Man Woman-Haters Club was a neighborhood boys club founded by Spanky. Spanky had founded the exclusive club as a defense against girls but Alfalfa's heart was just not in it. His love for Darla keeps him from taking it seriously, but Spanky soon forces him to realize the bonds of brotherhood and Darla is scorned.

Two things, no three.

First, good job Susan for pointing this out. Second to bad I do not see but a LIKE when I list a trove of resources that give the more difficult but true explanations on foreign policy.

Finally: VFP Position Statement of Dec 19, 2024. (Which does not take over an hour to read. Nor five these dangerous "leaders" ofnour country more media space)
