My city went FULL MAGA! A book banning, anti-vaxx, anti-semite was elected to the BOE! A three percenter was elected to the council! By the way the mayor who was overwhelmingly reelected appointed BOTH of those loons to vacated positions prior to them joining the ticket for 11/7. So while there are glimmers of hope we cannot let our guard down and have to realize the louds and wackos vote. Based on the anemic voter turn out that should concern all of us.
From my experiences here they will only get stronger as they now feel greatly empowered. The mayor's plurality was the largest ever and it may be attributed to the fact that his D opponent is Hispanic, get the picture?
The election results calmed me down a good bit. I do realize presidentiall polls this far out are notoriously wrong, but it IS hard to stay calm. This helps. Panic doesn't.
A friend in PA abd her running mates won school board election against their Moms For Liberty candidates. Across the country this was the trend as voters soundly rejected book banning and discrimination.
Also? Do NOT believe polls. Young people turned out big time and they don't answer random phone calls like Boomers do.
The results in Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia are encouraging. I just wish turnout in CT had been higher. Shelton, where I lived for almost two years, reelected its R mayor, who has been in office for about 100 years. I guess he's doing something right. (And didn't attend 1/6, as far as anyone knows.)
Things went well in my town. And it's good to see positive results in a few key elections across the US. However, I don't feel comfortable at all about 2024. I know a lot can happen between now & then. So, we'll see.

I am just so sorry. I hope this is a last gasp for them.

I do get the picture.
I know you do....I have this tendency to overstate, sorry about that
Yikes !!!

Awful lot of "Democrats Win -- Here's Why That's Bad For Biden" type stories today.
The NY Times had two stories that started that way, then segued into "BUT" for Biden...it's going to be tough. Bite me, one and all.

Right. We Boomers may be lonely. We will talk to any one.

That's the one question to ask everyone, whether you're choosing friends or elected officials: "Who won the 2020 presidential election?"
Although I’m okay with the results , I have mixed feelings about my town
There were two people that I knew that were on the ballot Tuesday
One was a democrat
One was a republican
The democrat was the pediatrician of both my stepdaughter and my daughter
The republican was a woman that I went to school with
I haven’t seen either in about 20 years
The last time I saw the Dr was the last time I took my daughter to see him
The last I heard from the woman I went to school with was when she called my ex and asked her , hey , can you get me any coke this weekend
Don’t tell my husband
They were both elected
I guess , something about the good and the bad
Lord. My town election was more of a participation trophy kind of thing. But overall? The future looks a little brighter.

I'm proud to say that Granby had a 37% turnout on Tuesday. And I'm relieved at the results of so many elections near and far.
Take heart, indeed. ❤
