It was hard to take in what I saw that day. I assumed security was the tightest in the world. I never imagined it could be possible to attack the Capitol and threaten our country's leaders like that.

I also never imagined Trump wouldn't be held responsible by now for his part. The wheels of justice have been so slowed down that they can't keep up. It's so frustrating when justice doesn't seem possible.

Today, all I hear about thru the votes is that McCarthy is bending further & further to the right to give in to the worst among them in the House - all to protect his ego and thirst for power. He should step aside and the Republicans should nominate a moderate candidate that will work with the Dems. Forget the 20 outliers (outLIARS). I hope we'll be OK, but I've lost confidence over the last 6 years.

I hate knowing how vulnerable are our institutions.

I know what you mean. Plus, now the worst among us know more about what to do to take advantage. I hope things are being done but that hope has no evidence.

Well, plenty of the foot soldiers have been arrested, tried, found guilty, and are now serving time. It’s tipsy-turvy, though. As with any criminal organization, you need to go for the head.

How could I not forget

Every year , from now until I die , I will always be reminded of that day

My birthday

Since that day I have put all of the goofballs that I know that still support the golfing grifter on notice

I would ask them questions that they didn’t want to answer and didn’t know how to answer

How could you be taken by that grifter ???!!??

And he wasn’t even a world class grifter

He was a second rate grifter

And he grifted right in plain sight

Buy another maga hat

Donate your paycheck to the build the wall scam

Donate your paycheck to the stop the steal scam

Buy some make believe trading cards

The fat fraud had a gift shop outside the Oval Office

What a pathetic freak of a grifter

Surprisingly , supporters of the mango Mussolini didn’t like hearing what I had to say , yet they seldom would try to engage me in any kind of discourse about their obese orange messiah

Coworkers , family members , casual acquaintance or complete stranger

If they started talking about the one term twice impeached malignant narcissist that lost the popular vote twice I would make sure they knew exactly what I thought about fat Donnie

I can’t talk to you was something many would mumble before slinking away

One goofball told me that I take things to far , to which I would reply , you never think things through to a logical conclusion

As the brainwashed dupes started to avoid me I noticed that I didn’t seem to be as agitated as when I was listening to them gushing about their love of captain bone spurs

I didn’t have to see their stupid memes on Facebook

And it has been liberating knowing that the people that seemed to want to sing the praises of a loser were no longer doing it around me

No one who asked FPOTUS for a preemptive pardon, that day or the next, should be voting for Speaker, much less nominating anyone else.

So many times I've thought "No one who xxxx should be permitted to serve in our government." And yet, it continues. In the private sector, people would be fired for doing/saying the same things. There are consequences and they don't take years to get around to addressing them.

We’d have both been walked out the door. I remain hopeful that’s going to happen. I know that sounds silly. But I do.

It is more than ironic that on this day, the 2nd anniversary of the failed Trump coup attempt we will get to watch more of the theatrics of the Insurrectionists! There is an old saying that ‘cream rises to the top’ BUT we see the antithesis to that with the roster of 21 led by cultists like Gaetz, Biggs, Greene, Boebert. Maybe the Proud Boys will reassemble today and make another attempt to crush our democracy?!?

I actually thought about that. We get to watch the tsunami effect of lies from the top today.

It looks like McCarthy might get the speakership later today by totally caving to the insurrectionists. Is it possible that a day can live in double infamy?

If that’s an option, this one might.

Good verses: Habakkuk 3:17-19

New International Version

17 Though the fig tree does not bud

and there are no grapes on the vines,

though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no food,

though there are no sheep in the pen

and no cattle in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,

he enables me to tread on the heights.

For the director of music. On my stringed instruments.

This is a beautiful piece. It says it all. And while I don’t ever really want to be in foxholes- I’ll wager that we’d be well matched to get the job done. In fact we could gather a team of women who would do so much better than what we’re witnessing these days. Anyway- Your grandkids are fortunate to have been with you that original January 6th. Your interpretation was vital and on-point.

Over and over, I remember listening and reading throughout the day in horrified suspense. I keep wondering how it can be that so many, many other people who watched in the same stunned apprehension seemingly can't remember the experience.

At the time I didn't know whether the crowd would succeed in assassinating Nancy Pelosi, Mike Pence, others, and if they gained secure possession of the Capitol as well, what horrific cure would be necessary, though I thought there likely would be cure.

Since early in 2008 (yes, before the housing-led crash), my predictions relevant for economic choices have always come with an explicit "unless our systems have collapsed or entirely changed" caveat. And that was politically involved-- I'm concerned about the rightwing promotion of corporate feudalism (with no corporate responsibility).

But I hadn't envisioned January 6.

And I sat shouting at the TV, "Shoot 'em. SHOOT THEM!" I could not imagine people storming a government building without getting plugged full of holes. And then I sat there a little stunned that that was my go-to.

I wasn't surprised at the non-violence of security. The vast majority of the insurrectionists were white, and all were conservative.

It is for me a terrible thing to have had to depend on a professional army's leaders to prefer not to mount a coupe nor to govern the country, over the past six years, and particularly 2017-2021.

I'm reading that the most recent vaccine booster also offers protection from severe illness and death with the latest variant. The vaccine may not prevent me from getting infected but it protects me from severe illness. I'm not sure why people choose not to get that added protection. I also wear a mask when out in stores or around crowds. It's no big deal and it works to prevent infection and spread. It seems with the recent rise in infection rates, it just makes good sense to halt the spread by wearing good quality masks.
