The chain of custody for Hunter Biden's laptop was zorched a long time ago. But sure, proceed with the investigation. I'm sure that will bring inflation down, put baby formula on the shelves, and put a stop to corporate price gouging for everything from gasoline to food.

This gives them a meatless bone to gnaw -- while inflation skyrockets, which I thought was one of the sources of their ire pre-election.

They will just blame it on Biden and the Dem Senate, and their supporters will buy into that narrative. If they rile up their base and cast blame on the Dems, they figure they'll win a bigger prize in 2024 so they can do anything they want. This election was too close. I worry about the next because the GOP interest in and ability to spread conspiracies, tell lies, and inspire violent uprisings has been very effective in the past.

Some of their supporters will. I think the midterm shows that some of this finger-pointing and schoolyard taunting is wearing thin for some within their party.

I really hope that's true. It seems a lot of GOP Senators & Reps lack a spine and will bend any which way that suits them. I don't trust them.

The worst of them see Trump moving on to run for the Presidency without legal consequences for his past wrong-doings, frauds/lies, attempts to misuse government agencies to punish those he didn't like, instigating an insurrection, and are emboldened to push beyond. Why the heck haven't there been consequences yet? The wheels of justice need major oiling! They move waaay too slowly!

Originally, I thought the slow turning of the wheels was about right. I had no idea we would be waiting this long for a legal comeuppance.

Agree with everyone here. Why the heck is it taking so long for Garland to charge Trump!?

It is. But we’ve had bumpy rides before and we know we can survive them.

Contrast the honest, effective, strong leadership of Speaker Pelosi to the weak-kneed McCarthy who did not even have the decency to attend yesterday's session and you have a look into the dangers lurking with him and his fellow insurrectionists at the helm! Meanwhile, we have Marjorie Taylor Greene comparing her comrade Putin's war of terror on Ukraine to the migrants illegally crossing our border....THIS is what the gQp has to offer!?!?!

It is. And one more unblinking look at their foolishness will be, I believe, the death of the party.

Of course, the eliminate-government-and-governability is large, and the I-don't-care-just-reelect-me crowd perhaps larger, so I don't think they'll give a damn about governing.

I hope that voters will.

Oh, I hope you're right. I am cheered by Kansas in particular. But also by the widespread rejection of election-denying candidates for election-monitoring roles....
