I would have more difficulty explaining to anyone why the Justice Department is trying to stop E. Jean Carroll's defamation suit against Trump.

And now I have to ask myself why I’ve been walking around thinking he paid for sex and being angry all over again that I even have to understand the nuances of this reprobate’s sexual transactions.

I'd like to tell you it will be over soon. But I can't.

Now I feel like the narrator in "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

Um. I may have missed something, but I do not recollect ever reading or hearing that Trump paid Ms. Clifford for sex. He paid her (and at least one or two others) not to talk about having sex with him.

In other words, I fixed it here. I'll fix it with her.

Oh, Lord. You're right. I added a bad act, and now I have to go correct the record with the granddaughter. This is going to be awkward, but I don't want to lie about anything going on.

My 12 yr old granddaughter (the smartest, most brilliant star of the show) recently asked me why DeSantis is my enemy, rats and rattlesnakes! It took me all day yesterday to think what I will answer this one. I’m kinda’ a hotheaded activism type, and I’ve most definitely griped about his leadership and stupid bills (Don’t say gay--now including all grades K-12--and book bans and his politicizing of our state school boards, and so on) in her presence, so it is a good question. I attempted to explain, but failed miserably, ugh. She’s ok with me taking time to re-respond.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, lol!

Oh, and ⚔️ hi ho!

Honestly, I think I went too far. I could have just said that TFG had misused campaign money. She's a savvy nearly-12-year old, but did I need to talk about sex with a woman who wasn't his wife? I don't know. I am going to revisit this today. I do believe people need to make their own political judgments, but I sat through a lot of pro-Nixon discussions and I turned out completely able to think for myself, so...Keep it age appropriate. Twelve now is not what 12 was for us (I think) but my concern is not overloading them with grownup crap they don't require.

I dunno, dude. I always answered Chun Woo's questions with the fullest truth I could, sex or no sex. Of course, when he was very small I said "kissing" when it was other-membranes sex, because kissing = sex for very small persons.

Anyway, he seems fine. Great.

Well, I have to admit that I'm coming at this as a grandparent and I don't think it's my place to take the lead on everything. But I did.

Oh, point.

OTOH, you didn't lead-- your granddaughter did. You were a person having a conversation with another person.

The questions these two (they are twins) ask are pretty incisive. I remain impressed.

If placed in front of them, they do. Their dad did, as well.

When I first started to read the paper it was for the comics and sports

I remember the first time a front page headline grabbed my attention

It was Christmas morning 1966

It was about 2 weeks before my 7th birthday

The headline was about an East Windsor woman who killed a Windsor Locks police officer on the 140 bridge driving drunk

It was the first time I actually read a front page article

Who was the woman from our town ???

She was a neighbor and I went to school with her youngest son

It was the first time that I was reading about news that was about someone I knew

Wow. That's pretty unsettling. I read the newspaper so that I could talk to my Grandpa Marrs, who read it cover to cover every day.

Love this. She’s brilliant and so lucky to have a grandmother who is honest and open.
