Abbott actually had the gall to post a Christmas bible verse on twitter. Someone responded with a meme that said, “Whenever a republican quotes the Bible, an Angel projectile vomits.”

That’s a great response.

Since Abbott has been quoting Bible verses, perhaps that should be countered by quoting verses that directly apply. It won't change the evil that he embodies, but for those who at least purport to be bound to follow the dictates of Scripture, it may be instructive or at least give them pause.

Leviticus 19:34

“The foreigners residing among you must be treated as native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

Thanks for the link to his email. I wrote what I am sure he will find to be a heartwarming missive that (hopefully) set up an interesting conundrum: someone writes to you that we are called to heed all Scripture, not just that which is convenient; that those of us who value human life will look for a candidate who remembers we must care for all, "even the least of these my brothers".

Of course we know he doesn't believe any of this, but knowing that those who do might give their money and effort to someone else? That could be motivational.

It is always good to call out hypocrisy.

Yup, this is the only way regular folks can be efficacious in this “unprecedented” political climate we find ourselves living under. Flooding the offices of these politicians with emails, targeted letters, and other correspondence that let these farts know we are watching their immoral actions and we are locked and loaded with the means to complicate their political careers.

Amen. I think I’ll email him again.

Deplorable has a name: Abbott

I have commented several times on Abbott's two Twitter accounts, neither one of which any human person on his staff reads, I'm sure. Yes, the refugees were welcomed in DC with open arms, but that does not mitigate for one second the cruelty of this stunt. There are proper channels for dispersing refugees from the border states to other locations, and this wasn't one of them. And to do it on Christmas? Does anyone wonder why young people are leaving the establishment churches in droves?

We agree. What is the actual purpose of Abbott’s brand of cruelty?

Expand full comment

The cruelty is the point. The Republican objective: Maximize Human Suffering.

But...but...but...to what end? I mean, where's the reward? I often think people feel rewarded if some act puts money in their pockets. Does this do that?

If something tragic happened to one of these folks after they arrived in Washington, like an injury or they wandered off out of confusion or fear and froze to death, Abbott would quickly convert that to his version of political capital without a thought to the individual.

I just don't get it. Or him.

It makes the MAGAts who worship Abbott and FPOTUS feel good, I guess. Once again, they have "owned the libs," and that's what they live for. They've been told the refugees get free housing, food, and cellphones while they -- the decent, white, Christian men have worked hard all their lives -- don't have these things. Or something.

It makes zero sense. Zero.

Remember “Ironsides” has let his own citizens suffer when the antiquated electrical grid failed during a cold spell. He did nothing before or since the Uvalde massacre to rein in gun violence. It is no wonder he would treat migrants WORSE than cattle BUT Texans re-elected him, sad, very sad!

The frozen Texas situation should have been sufficient. But this? Good Lord.
