Totally agree. I literally stepped away from my local Democratic organization ten years ago because I thought it was time for new and younger people with new and fresher ideas. Truthfully, if older people don't step aside, the younger people will never take on the roles that they need to step into. We need that on the national level too. Hogg was right -- he was pushing for primarying do-nothing Dems sitting fat and comfortable in seats in Congress while doing zip. That scared the crap out of the old guard and, so, they shoved him out. Pathetic.

Disgusted me that the Dems in NY ran Cuomo - flawed candidate who turned people off because he had to resign over his inappropriate behavior. I'm sure the thinking was -- well, Trump is a sex pest and adjudicated rapist so Cuomo's stuff won't matter --- BUT they forgot that the Trump thing is a CULT and Cuomo doesn't have a cult propping him up and bowing to him.

It's just time to turn the page. It's time for Schumer to exit the stage and a raft of the others so that some new ideas and younger people can come on the scene.

Keep pushing for the change that our party needs.

I'm 66 next birthday and I am as vibrant an old lady as they come. Nevertheless, we need younger voices and younger ideas. That does not pain me to say that, either.

Why did they push David Hogg out? He was a promising candidate!

There was some talk about a procedural miscue but in fact, I think it was his statements that his nonprofit would primary Democrats who weren't doing their jobs.

💯100 per cent agree with your reasoning on David Hogg. I remember him and his fellow students as survivors of the MSD HS shooting as acting for change. They were passionate, well spoken and determined to be heard. Just what we need now.

When I read the DNP was shutting down his voice and progress for the Dems I was angry and disappointed. We need these younger people to take over the Dem out of touch seat warmers in our changing world.

The old way of politics is over! I don't know why people aren't getting it. I do, even at my age! We need fresh faces and ideas. And I'm sorry if most people don't see it that way but I can see it!

The DNC didn't like the fact that he knows we have to primary the dead wood Democrats.

It is as if they forgot that part of the process. But we didn't.

Why do we have to primary them? They're not going to win anything so why do we have to primary them? We need new blood not this old bad blood!!!! We're never going to win if we don't get with the new program!!!

That's what I mean. The old (or young) dead wood Dems who are no longer working for their constituents need to be defeated in the Democratic primaries so that better Democratic candidates can win those seats. The DNC needs to stay out of the way!

Agree! We need young blood and different voices. All in for Mamdani. My grandson, Jack, worked for him in the primary and will work for him in the general. And, I stopped my contributions ( small) to the Dems after learning that the Dems gave millions to Cuomo. Pissed that Jeffries and Schumer have not backed him yet. On David H— too bad the DNC could not reach a compromise with him. ( I don’t think they tried)

Susan Campbell's avatar

I don't think they tried, either. Or if they tried at all, their effort was minimal. And I'm looking through my donations to D organizations and reevaluating all of them. It's not much but I want to put my money where my. mouth is.

Then they screwed up and somebody has to fix it?!! I'm not happy with with this dictatorship. The only way out is if we have new blood with new ideas and a new way of doing things and that is getting rid of the old Democratic crap and getting new blood in!!! If no one is going to get behind that then we're going to get stuck with Trump forever and after him another Trump!!!!

Jefferies doesn't know how to speak. He can't hold the attention of an audience more than a minute. He's just got to go. I don't understand why none of you don't see this! Maybe it's because I'm outside the party and looking in and I'm trying to find people that are exciting and doing something and I don't see anybody doing anything! Corey Booker did, even he's getting too old. He's got to spice up his act.

Party politics is run by older people who have put in their time and expect to be respected and heard. I get it. But, unfortunately, times have changed and when the youth rise up like they did in the 60's, us old folks can follow their lead or get run over and run out. Lack of experience might lead to mistakes, but who cares at this point? We need to do something different! We need some excitement!

Since us old folks were among the young people rising up, maybe we have a unique understanding of the importance of stepping aside for them.

Ever since the Parkland massacre, I’ve loved David Hogg. He was the bright spot in a terrible tragedy and he’s been willing to speak out from the age of 16. It’s a sad,sad day when all the old Dems can’t put their egos behind them for a chance at a brighter future with people like David Hogg. It’s one of the reasons this country is in shambles, besides the 🍊felon, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. ⚔️

Someone has to explain it to them and explain it to them fast because we're running out of time and runway. Trump is winning still! And he's getting worse and more cruel! It's to the point now that if I could leave this country I would but I have no money. I live on a small amount of Social Security $15,000 a year is what I have to live on. I barely make it through even a month with my subsidized housing that's going to be gone and Medicaid which is going to be gone and Medicare advantage which is going to be gone! I'm dead!!! Because Democrats are too stupid to see the light and understand that they need to change!!!

Expand full comment
MT's avatar

No there's nothing theoretical about it. I'm trying to explain to you what I see. I'm not part of your DNC corporate. I'm just a Democrat stuck in a ruby red State full of Republicans. And I am looking for people who I thought gave a crap about things and and did things that they used to! What happened? I've volunteered for indivisible for years. I was part of the reason for the big turnover to Blue in the house in the in the in 2020. I worked really hard really long hours for no pay at all just to get my parties people into office and I failed Heidi. She was working so hard for the indigenous people in her State and the Republicans just kept screwing her over. No matter how much money we put into it and how many calls and letters it ended up not working. And I took that lost very hard because I'd work so hard for her. That's the point! There were people that we knew we could count on no matter what, and they're disappearing. Thank God for AOC and her working with Senator Bernie Sanders but I guess he's not a Democrat he's considered an independent so you guys don't feel like you need to primary him or coddle him. So who is it that needs to be primary and called it coddled? Schumer? Who else is holding us back?

I have donated $500 just this month. The month of June. I can't do it in July. I can't do it in August. I won't have a home because my subsidized housing will be gone my Medicaid will be gone so my oxygen will be gone and it's all because old Democrats think they have to be primaried and be listened to and paid attention to and be coddled! So I lose everything because of them!!! This is certainly not fair to me and it's not fair to the millions of other people just like me who are in the same boat. We're all waiting for the Democrats to do something and nobody is doing anything!!!
