It seems just as heartbreaking as the carnage in Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria and Palestine and Yemen and the Central African Republic Civil War and the countless others that I haven’t mentioned
Yes. It does. And all that is ongoing. I look at Syria as I look at Haiti. We helped put both countries into the cross-hairs, and then these disasters (earthquakes, for starters, in both countries) strike. They don't stand a chance.
1. Truth is the first casualty in war.2. The first casualty of war is truth.3. When war is declared, truth is the first victim.4. In war, truth is the first casualty.
It is truly heartbreaking what is happening. But the amazing strength and determination of the Ukrainian people is incredible. I can’t imagine most American having that.
Most refuse to wear a simple mask when out in public to protect our most vulnerable with fragile health against covid, flu, etc. In addition, they shriek epithets at those who do wear masks, invade the mask wearers' personal space to harangue (adding to the risk), rail against all vaccines (measles, polio, etc. included).
How many in this country do not bother to vote, let alone get involved in the effort to improve?
When we decry the dysfunctional vulgarians in the House and wonder how such "unrepresentative" candidates were elected, we can - and should - look around us and see who and what so many of our "neighbors" really are.
It seems that the more things change the more they stay the same
We have either been at war or funding wars since I have been born and even much longer than that
It doesn’t seem to matter which party is in control
One side seems to be against what we are doing in Ukraine but wants to escalate things against the Chinese
But I also see our involvement as an escalation in a conflict that could go on for years
While appeasement of dictators never gives me a warm feeling neither does funding endless wars
In the end it’s the most vulnerable that will always suffer whether we do something or not
I don’t know
I don't know how the Ukrainian people are withstanding this barrage. The photos that come out of there are heartbreaking.

What you probably did not see in any Main Stream Media news: A rock star needs to address the United Nations.

No. I missed this but don’t feel I missed much.
