While I can understand your sentiments , I believe that if we as a country can start to accept the reality that on July 4 1776 a divided nation was cobbled together because of a common enemy we might be able to work together so that one day we can truly be united

We really do have a long way to go to get there

But I’m willing to do what I can to reach that dream

I'm not feeling it this year. Doesn't seem fitting to celebrate a country where our rights are being eroded. Need to turn this around. SWORDS UP!

I'll celebrate by planning to raise the sword higher, to keep it sharper than ever and be ready to use it as is necessary. I'd like to celebrate what this country could be but I'm running out of patience.

Striving to be better is what life IS, whether it is about love and kindnes, acceptance and support, creativity and productivity, etc. And our diversity is our beauty and strength, as is striving for true equality by increasing it, not shutting people out. I am like you in some ways--I love what my country can be one day, and I love the message of kindness to each other tgat all major religions share. Hope is necessary...
