He, and others of a similar ilk along with a family situation from decades involving the catholic church and its abject cruelty, are the reason why.
Here's one of my favorite examples of international-border stories: This Aroostook Valley Country Club is located in both the U.S. and Canada. Pandemic protocols made it difficult for this course to continue operations, but it's well on the way back.
In my mind, their actions put the lie to any and all claims about this being, or their goal of making this, a "Christian nation."
But their voters love it. Abbott was thrilled at the announcement of the suit being brought by DOJ. In the eyes of his voters, it lifts him up to near sainthood status. He had Owned the Libs once again.
From Baucis and Philemon to Abram and the three strangers to the verse in Matthew 25 you refer to, EVERY civilized culture has emphasized the importance of being hospitable to the stranger.
