Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Florida, and Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, appear to be in the running for Most Vile Governor, Like, Ever.
The latest volley was fired by Abbott, who erected a 1,000-foot floating buoy barrier on the Rio Grande, counter to good sense (people seeking to enter to U.S. are simply walking around the barrier) and international law. The Department of Justice has sued the governor — who, like DeSantis — is prone to gutless and worthless and cruel photo ops — and the governor has responded, “See you in court.”
I do not ever want to see another cruel person such as DeSantis or Abbott to quote the Bible, because what they say and do runs counter to anything holy, goddammit. Believers aren’t allowed to demonize anyone but a real, live demon.
In the case of these two, it’s almost as if they lay awake at night and dream up new ways to bully the most vulnerable among us.
Honestly, there better ways to do borders. Here’s Ukraine-Poland’s:
Here’s Finland/Sweden/Norway’s:
And at one point along the long, 5,525 mile Canadian/U.S. border, the boundary runs through a library/opera house that serves residents from both countries):
And here’s a creative use (from 2019) of another bad idea from TFG:
I no longer have faith. I no longer believe in god. I LOATHE religion and for my sanity, want absolutely nothing to do with it. A priest that I respected is an uber MAGA. He, and others of a similar ilk along with a family situation from decades involving the catholic church and its abject cruelty, are the reason why.
Here's one of my favorite examples of international-border stories: This Aroostook Valley Country Club is located in both the U.S. and Canada. Pandemic protocols made it difficult for this course to continue operations, but it's well on the way back.
