I have some feeling for the children that are left orphaned, but I have no sympathy for the pro-Covid gang, especially the ones who have a platform -- whether it's a radio show or a church pulpit or a national tv show -- from which they preach their anti-vax lies to a gullible public. When one of them dies, there will probably be many lives saved who either won't hear their lies, or who will see the consequences and get vaxxed.

Right, the worst part about this isn't that she died by her own doing, it's that she likely infected others and influenced people to not protect themselves. Dying may end up being the best example she set but it's got a lousy beat and you can't dance to it.

By the same token, I have nothing but contempt for people like Stephanie Grisham, who is just now stepping forward to get her 15 minutes of fame, and probably a book deal. There were so many people who could have blown the whistle on the plot to steal our democracy, and did nothing.

I reserve my deepest ire for the religious types who have used their pulpits for horse shit for years and after the pandemic opened a new franchise in horseshit. But I’d be willing to make a space for ol’ Stef there.

It is more than they "reap what they sow", the saddest part of this life and death matter is many of these who are dying continue to propagate lies, misinformation and resistance to PUBLIC health that effects ALL of us! I will save my sympathy for those struggling in all areas of health care, delivery services, etc.....they continue to wage war while anti-vaxxers continue to provide hosts to this insidious virus!

That sounds like a good use of your compassion.

I despise them. I think it is fair to say they have caused great harm to many. They are faces of the banality of evil. But I can't become like them by celebrating their deaths. One of the things progressives increasingly need to wrestle with is not becoming the mirror image of those on the other side. This is happening in lots of different ways and I think we need to be reflective about that.

I'd rather piss on their graves instead of expending the energy to dance. However, I won't do either. I tread lightly when it comes to mocking someone's death (regardless of circumstances) as karma could come knocking on my door.

As soon as I find my sympathy, I'll share it with the world.

Might I suggest this in memory of all the First Responders and folks on the Healthcare Continuum that the antivaxxers and COVID-deniers put in the hospital?

This is interesting (& not surprising). It's another piece of data that points to why we need reliable leadership. https://www.ajicjournal.org/article/S0196-6553(21)00850-6/fulltext?dgcid=raven_jbs_aip_email

I'd like to know if she (& others) actually believed the vaccines were harmful and COVID was not, or if she (& others) believed by spouting anti-vaxer rhetoric it would boost her popularity and provide a tool for manipulation. Or maybe it was both.

Francis has done good things and I think he’s trying to get folks to procreate a new generation of followers. Maybe the church should let them bring pets in for mass. It works at TWC. I’d be honored.

No need to dance. Fake Christians all end up in fake heaven! The whole lot of them. And there are so many. And WTF is the Pope talking about pets vs Children?

I read that in my Times today. It seems particularly in the weeds and tin-eared, considering, and I actually LIKE this Pope. And Fake Heaven is a great idea. I'm going to steal it and not give you credit.

The tune: A dirge, I guess.

It's such a frustrating thing. The forces of disintegration sneer and gibber and complain plaintively of the discourtesy of proponents of investing for all creation, present and future. All our good behavior, both in concern for constructive policy and in discourse, is used as a lever to pry any power away from us. And while some of us have been innate and inveterate sneerers and gibbers ourselves, most of us haven't, but are exhausted when so many sacrifices and self-restraints are wasted on this crap and on repairing the constantly attacked old institutiions to build good tomorrow, instead of being freed to revise old ones and make newly needed and better new ones.

That's infuriating, isn't it? My vaxxed husband (they didn't have the third shot available at the time, but he's had that since) got COVID this summer. It was pretty awful and I felt the same way. What's it take, morons? My best to your husband.
