Shall we dance on the graves of dead anti-vaxxers?
And to what tune, precisely?
A 46-year old California anti-vaxxer/politician (see above) died recently from COVID, and the Twitters had a field day:
In December, an anti-vaxxer/Christian broadcaster died from COVID, and the Twitters erupted. (I could fill a wall with photos of dead anti-vaxxer/Fake-Christian leaders.)
The pandemic has given us a lot of things, including a weird social pattern you may have noticed. Outspoken anti-science anti-vaxxers (whether they are believers or not, just add microphone and stir) catch the virus that’s been waiting for them, they die, and then they get buried — physically, and in mean online comments. Those tweets are generally followed by tut-tut tweets that remind people that news stories are about humans who have left loved ones behind, who mourn them.
I am pretty sure I have resisted dancing on any graves, because yes, a death is a death and exulting over same renders one ghoulish. But. The science is there, and when these people with a bully pulpit spread information that gets other people killed, well, that’s the kind of Old Testament God I can often get next to. I do not believe anti-vaxxers are deserving of death…exactly, but that it comes after a willful devotion to stupidity, I hope their families find peace. But.
And now I will trudge off to the corner and ask forgiveness for myself. I trust you will add me to your prayer list, as well.
I have some feeling for the children that are left orphaned, but I have no sympathy for the pro-Covid gang, especially the ones who have a platform -- whether it's a radio show or a church pulpit or a national tv show -- from which they preach their anti-vax lies to a gullible public. When one of them dies, there will probably be many lives saved who either won't hear their lies, or who will see the consequences and get vaxxed.
It is more than they "reap what they sow", the saddest part of this life and death matter is many of these who are dying continue to propagate lies, misinformation and resistance to PUBLIC health that effects ALL of us! I will save my sympathy for those struggling in all areas of health care, delivery services, etc.....they continue to wage war while anti-vaxxers continue to provide hosts to this insidious virus!
