I did not know much about trans people until I watched “ I am Jazz” and Gabe on TLC. The struggles and pain they go through and then get attacked by folks like these, is beyond cruel. Every person should have support in life’s struggles.

Au contraire, they are DEFINING "the brand" as a hateful, spiteful group that espouses many forms of discrimination and bigotry! Oh and they support(ed) the coup perpetrated by their cult leader on 1/6....GO SMITH!!

I am anxiously awaiting an act on that, rather than speculation. I've had my heart broken too many times. But yes, that is the white evangelical brand, and it's been carefully crafted by people who haven't read their Book.

But they have read it. MTG even posted a photo about it last year. The Book is a mirror, and people see in what they bring to it. Peace through violence & domination and peace through justice & equity are both threads that run throughout the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. Jesus seems to you and me to land firmly on the side of justice & equity, but there are just enough passages that, when read literally, speak of violence and domination to give people like MTG, Vance, et al, reason to think they are justified. See, especially, Revelation.

When I say "read," I think I mean "discern." I mean read for comprehension. But you're right.

You’re right and as a former social worker I heard too many defend abuse through the Book. It is interpreted the way people want it to be.

It is not the word of God, but rather the words of men, mere mortals.

Here’s a pretty good discussion on the “brand” and Vance’s manipulation of people’s perceptions, left and right. It’s about a ten minute read.

Yup and yup and yup.

Thank you for the source on prepubescent child not receiving surgical or medicinal gender/transitional care through North Carolina medical facilities. Do you have statistical sources on the United States in general? I have confidence in assertions I've read that while puberty blockers are administered and extremely helpful, US surgical treatment of minors experiencing "gender dysphoria" is at most surpassingly rare-- but I lack solid statistical sources to link to. (Surgical treatment of infants born with intersex characteristics has of course been standard in the past, and I think it still occurs?) I like research sources to refer people to in this world of assertion and counter-assertion.

I am not finding particularly recent stats you ask for but I'll keep looking.
