About gender-affirming care

There's a lot of crap out there -- including from two high-ranking elected officials

Rep. MTG, Q-Ga., recently introduced a bill that would make providing gender-affirming care a Class C felony, which could be punishable by as much as 25 years in prison.

The bill has 14 Republican co-sponsors.

Accordingly, one of her idiot cousins, Sen. (I still cringe when I follow that abbreviation with this:) J.D. Vance, Q-Ohio, introduced a similar Senate bill.

Vance’s bill is called “Protect Children’s Innocence Act,” and a bigger misnomer you’d be hard-pressed to find.

About that:

• In the history of gender-affirming surgery, six patients (0.3%) have sought to reverse that surgery, but:

• Zero children — Ze. Ro. — receive gender affirming surgery.

• Gender-affirming care for adults, according to the World Health Organization, “encompasses a range of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions.”

• Gender dysphoria is not a made-up, get-me-some-attention kind of a thing, and not caring for people puts them at risk. In fact, says Dr. Deanna Adkins, director of the Duke Child and Adolescent Gender Care Clinic in Durham, N.C., with appropriate, gender-affirming care, young people:

  “…are happier, less depressed, and less anxious. Their schoolwork often improves, their safety often improves. Saving their lives is a big deal.”

• These bills are inhumane and stupid and a waste of time, and MTG and Idiot Cousin are wastes of space.

Seriously, these two hillbillies are severely hurting the brand.
