A cautionary tale. I was in DC on a Veteran’s Day years ago when an unexpected foot of snow fell. We had planned to drive back to Connecticut that day but cars driven by people with no idea how to drive in snow were bouncing around like pinballs. We managed to get a room to stay an extra night. The next day, as we started the drive home on the Washington-Baltimore Parkway, there were many hundreds of cars spun out and stuck in the median.
Turns out that Washington is quite lovely in snow. Just stay off the roads!
I have been in southerly towns when the rare snowstorm hits and you're right. Even here in snowy New England, the first snow shows that everyone really needs to re-learn how to drive.
