WTF happened to a solidly Democratic state (the racists moved to the Republican party once it became clear that the Democratic party wasn't going to continue to support slavery...this happened around the 1940s, I believe).
I started rereading The 1619 Project for a book club, and am freshly reminded that our current problems stretch all the way back to the First Reconstruction and before, when [some] white people decided that Black people would never be Real Americans(tm) and this would never be a multi-racial democracy.
It's like a cancer in our blood. "The Half Has Never Been Told" remains one of my favorite books for exploring this, but I'm willing to add to the list.

Now she’s really disgusted with her little sis for being a host for the devil (she joined the Patriot Church--the pastor there is....can’t say the word). I do have feelings for her, yet her new persona is a flat-out reversal of the big sis I went to college with in n NM; she was a hippie like me, only a bit more fussy than me! So I’ll wait it out and see. Until then, our conversations focus on getting her help via social services... but she lives in Tennessee, so...

The "announcement" re the earlier documents came from Trump. The agencies involved had been quietly attempting to retrieve known documents and investigate the circumstances surrounding them. Currently, the documents were found (where they were locked away); applicable agencies were immediately notified; the documents were turned over the next day; agencies are investigating.
We would not have learned about the Trump Tranche had he not whined and shrieked to attempt to deflect and defuse - at least not unless and until there was a case brought to court. DoJ is precluded by policy and some applicable statutes from discussing ongoing investigations. The raid, publicity, loud legal filings, etc. were/are all a function of Trump.
So Hawley is suggesting that the White House should be raided to look for classified documents? Sounds about right.

I suggested that since both Biden and Fat Donnie had classified documents both of them should be locked up
