I don’t care if this sign is real or pretend. It made me smile, so thank you, Mike, for sharing this.
Feel free to use this thread to say anything you want about the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, the Defendant-In-Chief. Or you can share your hopes, fears and dreams. Share a poem. Share a recipe. Share whatever you’d like because sometimes, you just need a room in which to shout.
The attack in Gaza killing those delivering aid has my blood boiling! Between that war crime and Putin’s on going war crimes in Ukraine it seems we are in a downward spiral. Amidst it all I am thankful we have your forum to express our views, the therapeutic value is priceless.
I'm going to use this space to say thank you for providing it and to say, I love A LOT more people than I dislike. I love my family, my friends (you included)), and most animals. I like most people I meet. I wish I could help the people far away who are suffering. To protect all of that, I will elect leaders who promote compassionate policies.
Amen. Thank you so much for expressing so clearly what many of us feel. I have had conversations with several friends about this longing--beyond vengeance, beyond rage. Jac's living from love, and your longing for a time when What's-his-face is no longer of significance.
I long for the days when white lies stop becoming orange ones, when lies are called lies and not misinformation and he slinks away to prison or under a rock in Elba.
I think that John Dickerson of Slate Political Gabfest is deliberately working on turning public attention to the substance of political decisions that affect present and future lives, specifically above the noisy and content-free winds of "politics." May momentum accumulate!
I was about to include my favorite John Adams quote about Congress, but I googled it to fact check the verbiage and alas, learned from Reuters that he never said it, rather it came from the musical 1776. Still the thought has never been more apt: "In my many years, I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm and three or more is a congress.”
There are many legitimate problems in our country and the world and we need smart people with scruples willing to come together and solve them. This cannot happen under the DIC. and it's not happening now. I fear democracy is at a precipice and that the Founders' structure of 3 separate but equal arms of government cannot survive unless a lot of Americans educate themselves and realize this by November. The sad truth is that they'd rather listen to the lies and believe them. And many don't even believe in democracy. How is that possible? (Rhetorical question of course...)
"A republic, if you can keep it" will have to do as a verified quote from fellow founding father Ben Franklin. But I truly fear for our country.

Leave it to Jac, when given the opportunity to shout, shouts love.
😘
I stand with you Jac
Amen. Thank you for this.
I long for the day, when he slinks away because no one will care what he says.
I long for a time (it will be sublime) when his name is not part of a headline.
Remember, my dears, not being in tears of anger, frustration and fury?
Perhaps it will be, (oh! please can it be?!) that justice will come from a jury.

What is the source of this?
Alfred Lord Tennyson's "Ulysses"
Thank you. It's beautiful.

“The truth has no defense against a fool determined to believe a lie.”
"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."
"A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes."
“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.”
“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”

thanks for that much-needed chuckle - and for all you do every day!
I love coming here and checking on my friends.
