Thanks for this. All my family are, or have been, public school teachers. We all grew up with supper conversations being about schools, administrators, teachers, Boards of Ed, and acting out parents. You are good to point out that these folks are volunteers. I cannot wait for this mask conversation (and the need for masks) to be FAR behind us. I am world weary.
Goes along with the cultural environment in which what the GOP is advertising as their excellence, their quid-pro-quo, their attractiveness to voters, is not a vision for the nation and world with policy to work toward it, but (destructive) power.
I totally agree with you and hate how the decision making or “blame” has been diverted to them. I have lived in Glastonbury for 36 years and loathe what our town has become. Frankly if some unmasked idiot, was yelling at me, an in from my face, I would have pushed him away. Whatever the issue, we need to have some respect for others. It really does take a village.
I found out last year that a goofball that I went to school with was on the board of education in Enfield
She wasn’t elected , there was a vacancy and she was added by republicans on the board
While I will admit that I haven’t had contact with her for the better part of 20 years my last encounters with her pretty much sealed my vote and democrats took control of the board
Recently a school board meeting was stopped because of anti maskers
I don’t know if my goofball was there but I suspect so

I am, as well. I never had much patience for bad behavior, and I have less now. World weary is a good way to describe it.

My God, I'm depressed. But enduring. And kicking.
Keep kicking.

It’s so very juvenile. I’m still a little stunned at some of the behavior at these meetings.
And sadly we all know who encouraged blatant physical acts, the orange blob.
You can add Enfield to the list of idiocy

That's just sad.
I would rather it be sad with her not on the board of education than for it to be sad with her on the board of education
Particularly the ones holding signs and shouting.
