…resign. Boris Johnson stepped down as the leader of the Conservative Party after the resignations of 60 — nearly half the payroll — members of his government.
In other words, the people in power simply couldn’t stomach the ethical breaches of their leader. Imagine that. Here in the U.S., you have people in power who still seek to defend the indefensible. (CNN reported that Johnson lost power because he simply couldn’t tell the truth. Sound familiar?)
So. Here’s your chance to share. Were you ever a part of an organization that didn’t jibe with your values, and if so, what did you do about it? I find the British way rather refreshing. I find our recent approach during the last administration appalling.
1970-1987 - I was entrenched in a fundamentalist organization called The Way International. 17 years later, while working at its headquarters, I finally saw "the light" about its corruption and figured out how to escape. Later, I finally figured out how to write that story, and in 2017 I published a memoir titled Undertow. That's how Susan and I became acquainted. She read it and "blurbbed it." Thanks again, Susan!
At 17 signed up for US Marines 18 in Parris Island 19 Vietnam home before 20 woke up at 50 to realize the culture of violence I had unwittingly became a part of in contrast to the family values of love and respect for ALL that I grew up with. Now at 70 try to fight this growing culture of violence we see every day for my kids and grandkids. THE YANKEES WIN!!
I was a "fish out of water" when I began my banking career. A rare D among a corporation full of R's! I will never forget the day Jimmy Carter lost to Reagan, how the senior officers were all aglow basking in Reagan's victory. The irony is that they really never achieved their ultimate goal of deregulation until Clinton came into the picture. The landscape of banking totally changed and many of them became very wealthy as they sold out to money center banks....leaving many of my peers unemployed or underemployed. Greed won as 'old town values' were swept away!
I think in situations like that — and we are seeing that today — once you get that ball rolling, it’s really hard to stop it. That must have been terrifically crappy, being in that environment.

That took a lot of guts, both leaving AND telling the story about it, Charlene.

Ha. You just had to put that last part in, didn't you. (It was a great game.)
Jim, I so respect your work. I mean that sincerely.
As a Red Sox fan all I can say is way to go Yankees way to go
Yeah. It was that kind of game.
Hmmm, let’s see.
Civil rights veteran first jailed after peaceful demonstration 1963.
Army veteran 66-70,
Ordained in Catholic Church 2004,
Jailed again 2015 after demonstration for BLM.
Can’t pin me down…😊
That is a hell of a legacy. Well done, sir.
We stood in front of court house today again with Brian Again see if we can meet up soon @?
