We need MORE women in legislatures across the country who care about the health of the mothers, daughters, sisters, et al! Then and only then will action overtake the words!
Somehow, the principles of Roe vs. Wade need to be codified. The Republicans need to be reminded that women are people too and entitled to medical care as necessary. This also includes a refresher course for them about " The Establishment Clause" and "Separation of Church and State".
Ideally, we would need to control both chambers of Congress as well as the Oval. Unless the filibuster is removed, we'd need 60 seats (not happening - so the rule change is the realistic path). Not really likely, but we need to understand that every action we take, no matter how small, makes a difference and can bring us to a workable Congress and someone sane in the Oval. Look at the last Congress Pelosi worked with: similar hair's breadth majority as we now see on the other side, yet she moved masses of significant legislation through successfully.
Savvy politicians are realizing voters, particularly women, are infuriated and terrified by these attacks. That fury and fear affects the will to get out and vote as well as the vote itself. The GOP response is to suppress the vote. Our response must be to get the vote out; helping voters in states with onerous voting laws to get the necessary IDs, register and keep checking their registration, and know their rights at the polling place; provide transportation, babysitting, etc. to help voters get to the polls - use our privilege to ensure all who are othered and blocked have the means to exercise their right to vote. That is not just a list for states with horrific voter restrictions: there are many right here in CT who need help getting ID, need help registering, need help securing and returning an absentee ballot, need transportation to the polls. We can talk to anyone who will listen (calmly, respectfully, and in an informative manner) about the extraordinary stakes in this election, the progress we've seen in the last four years, and the need to acknowledge that no candidate is or will ever be perfect - but there is a very real difference between candidates and what they would mean to our future as individuals and as a nation. Even the most basic actions help: get a lawn sign to support a candidate- believe it or not, there has been extensive research on this and lawn signs do make a difference.
All of these actions sound mundane but are crucial to truly getting out the vote and creating the blue tsunami we need. Adam Schiff said that every generation has to fight for democracy and freedom. The time for that fight is right now.
It's that 54% of Republicans that Republican politicians want as supporters. They can't afford to lose them if they want to be re-elected. As long as Republicans are the majority in Congress, I doubt they'll consider what us democrats want. If the majority of Repulicans would support something, the Rep politicians would follow. Maybe we could work on that. Not sure how though.
We need to find a way to talk to the misinformed, decent people, who have capacity to feel compassion for the people who are being harmed by Republican policies. Facts and education would help.
Vote, vote, vote in the forthcoming election for those who will support the rights of all citizens, including women and minorities . Write Letters to the Editors of your local newspapers and posts on the internet regarding the importance of these issues to our democracy. Also, TALK to your friends and neighbors on the seriousness of the above.
Massachusetts has it right - common sense. The rest of them, as I previously stated, need refreshers on "The Establishment Clause", "Separation of Church and State", and a firm talking to about health care.
The number of Independents is growing but as long as they don’t have a viable candidate, the Republicans will continue to rule like the Neolithic Cavemen they are.
Ha. Well, campaign financing being what it is, rarely. That is what a free and independent press is for. That’s why this takes all of us, using all our talents, including talking to our family and friends who are stuck on sad.

Connecticut did just that, back in the ‘90s. If public opinion is what it is, why NOT do this on a federal level?

All this, every last bit of it. For myself, I'm using my fury. and I'm voting.

That is a good idea, actually. Until certain members of the GOP play nice, don’t let them play at all.

Because...Repugnicans.
Independent voters are growing and they are all over the map on this: https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/religious-landscape-study/compare/views-about-abortion/by/state/among/party-affiliation/no-lean/

Since when do the douchecanoes in DC listen to the voters?
