Me? I’m hanging my American flag out front, and contemplating all the arrests and indictments that have rained down and will continue to rain down. I will hope that the Department of Justice continues to follow the money and follow the facts, as AG Merrick Garland said in a speech yesterday. I will spend time reading my Constitution.
I am starting to think of it as the Epiphany 2021 Insurrection, because the fuckers not only attacked our democracy, they also desecrated the Feast of the Epiphany. I will observe Epiphany with an online service today, and I will pray for the continued health of the planners and coordinators and financiers of the Insurrection so they don't die before they face consequences.
Won't ever not be mad, but if anyone's anger has flagged, rejuvenate it with Wash. Post political cartoonist Ann Telnaes's brilliant tableau of traitors, "The Insurrectionists' Roll Call," in today's paper and on Instagram.
Sure am. And will be for the rest of my days. I have said "Dang, Mike Pence" many times but I would never have said "Hang Mike Pence" as much as I despise all of them. The calls are coming from inside the house.
Right. I'm going to stay pissed for a while now -- maybe the rest of my life. And when these mealy-mouthed scab-crunching local GQPers try to make apologies, I want to spit fire at them.
I keep going back to the phrase Hillary coined in one of her debates with the nectarine Nazi. "Putin's Puppet." There may not be any reliable evidence to prove the "golden showers" incident in the Obamas' hotel room, but there is TONS of credible evidence suggesting that Trump is in debt up to his ears with the Russian mafia/oligarchy. This is not some crazy conspiracy theory. This is fact. Nobody seems to be talking about this now, but any reasonable person who looks at the facts will be convinced that Putin/the Russian mafia/oligarchy has massive amounts of kompromat on T and they're using him to prove that democracy is vulnerable and doesn't work. Everything we're seeing is directly from Putin's playbook.
You're right. I am too impatient for the wheels of justice, which are turning so slowly in this case. But I have to believe the truth will out, Trump will feel the sting of the lash, and we will figure out how to bolster our democracy so that the next puppet will be dismissed outright.
I shared a brief Robert Reich column/audio on facebook.
Apart from that, prayer, maybe.
Also, it's very cold here. Denver Stock Show has canceled the usual opening parade on account of cold and winds, for the wellbeing of the animals. And I presume that means that the year's price steer will not visit the Brown Palace Hotel as is the custom. The show nonetheless opens tomorrow. Masks required indoors. No proof of tax required.
Yay COVID.
At least it has been snowing between last night and this morning.
It's beautiful. Brown fields are beautiful, too. Mountains are always beautiful. Right at the moment snow is more desperately needed than even beautiful.
The first time I flew into Denver, I was confused because of that awesome white roof that looks like snow-covered mountains. It's just the prettiest place, ever.
As I understand it, that's what the rood of Denver International Airport is supposed to evoke. They have now added an airport hotel to the southeast side of the airport, oddly with an excrescence that looks to me like a big glass Pringles-can mustache.
I am proud to say no, I don't know that "lil' traitor" in the photo, and I hope she gets brought to justice. This morning, I place my American flag in the front window.
I just got back from a vigil that was fairly well attended. The most notable thing is that there wasn’t a MAGA cult counter demonstration as there has been in the past. Most of those folks were from surrounding towns anyway and their numbers were never that great. Another reason to be glad to be in Connecticut.
Rather than thinking "Don't get mad, get even", I'm multitasking. Big mad. Also, did some work for my town committee this morning with an eye toward the November elections. The elections are the endgame.
Got the house decked out like it’s Flag Day (but decided to hold off on the “BIDEN-HARRIS” flag - too reminiscent of He Who Shall Be Named Nevermore) and reposted my screen grabs from that day as I called Gina & Michael into the Familiy Room to watch history in real time, along with tributes to Eugene Goodman, Brian Sicknick, Jeffrey Smith Howie Liebengood, Kyle deFreytag, Gunther Hashida, and the 140 other US Capitol & DC Metro Police Officers injured, maimed and traumatized that day.
I spent it with half an eye on some of the coverage. I'm just so tired of waiting. Enough with the talk and speeches from Washington. I'll be mad until they hold DT and his "advisors" accountable and behind bars. And dammit, Dems, protect our voting rights already! Defend our Democracy!

I love you so much, my teeth hurt over it.

Oh great idea!

Wow, that's useful. Thanks to you both!
I'm reminded of a handy little paperback I have a copy of, that ran down President Richard M. Nixon's "enemies list."

Is it beautiful? One of my sons went to Boulder for school and I'd fly out to stare at the Rockies once a year.

Cannot wait to fly in again and check out that mustache.

Mine's hanging by the front door.
I put a graphic on Twitter about it. I've got so many balls in the air right now, that's about all I'm capable of.
Hey. It’s something.

That is actually good news.

Precisely great way to spend the day.
