Start at the 1:57 minute mark, and watch as Ramos asks about the abuelo of Sec. of State/Acting National Security Adviser/Acting Administrator for USAID/Acting Archivist for the National Archives and Records Administration Rubio.
Rubio’s grandfather, Pedro Victor García, immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba, returned to the island, and then came back to the U.S., where he was picked up by immigration authorities and was ordered to deport in 1962.
But he didn’t leave. In fact, he stayed until 1967, when he received permanent residency.
As this Sun-Sentinel editorial says, Rubio’s grandfather would not have survived 72 hours in Trump’s and Rubio’s America. Spin as much as you want, Marco Rubio. This will still stink.
And while we’re at it, recently the Sec. of State/All Those Other Titles was quoted saying that whether the White House had intelligence that said Iran was actually building nuclear weapons is “irrelevant” to the bombs we’ve dropped on that country (Start at the 4:10 minute mark.)
So I guess the Trump administration is examining goat guts for guidance? Going with their feeeeeelings? Their own fevered dreams?
Honestly, it’s hard to take the unserious Marco Rubio seriously though all of his positions in the Trump administration require us to do that, I suppose. If you are concerned about how things are going, you can sign an anti-war petition here and you can find your elected officials here.
In today's letter Professor Richardson offers a terrific historical perspective on our involvement in manipulating political movements within Iran. Now, it is all coming full circle. Often we are our own worst enemy.https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-23-2025/comments?reaction=❤
Hi ho! On it.
