I'm so sorry for your loss. I only knew Shawn Lang from social media. You are so lucky to have known her as a friend.

I really really am. As I've gotten older, that's what grief becomes for me, sooner than it did when I was younger. I am so very grateful I had this person in my life.

Thank you Susan, for Shawn an Irish blessing:May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

She spoke of the Veleeta Bitches often and with great affection. Thank you for sharing your back story. And if the Sawx go all the way, I will know Shawn has begun managing from above. Sure would help me to believe in heaven.

Shawn was one of a kind. Her legacy will empower those who follow her in the fight for equality and equity. Years ago, Catherine told me about the Velveeta Bitches. Awesome, my friend.

We were very proud of our tacky little group. I still am, though we're missing a Velveeta.

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing more about Shawn. I was figuring her FB live cooking nights would start up again soon. I was grateful to have gotten to know her a little, looking forward to getting to know her more. Gosh, she was taken from this world too soon. She would have loved last night's Red Sox game. In our house, we chanted "Hit it outta thah pahk skippah!" And they hit a grand slam. (I thought of Shawn, wishing she could have seen that one.) Sox won 12 to Astros 3.

We are pretty convinced she DID see that grand slam, and she's pulling for a few more. Go, Sox.

She had a boatload of gumption. She took no prisoners, yet she was so loving about moving through her life.
