I vote to add Ron DeSantis to this week’s loser list. He suspended Orlando State Attorney Monique Morrell this week and he replaced his Campaign Manager in one more attempt to resuscitate his failing campaign.
My winner is a private duty nurse who lives next door to us in Murrells Inlet SC where she just took in 6 week old baby to care for. The baby is deaf, blind and has other issues. And an honorable mention to my wife who cuddled this poor sole while our neighbor opened her door and brought in supplies.
My loser is the Bristol Republican (cultists all, see the story in The Bristol Edition article written by Jack Krampitz) regime that attempted to appoint Ms. Van Gorder to the BOE. She is an avowed anti-vaxxer and worse (think the scene from The Field of Dreams where Amy Madigan stands up to challenge the book banner). Fortunately, due to public outcry a more moderate person was appointed BUT Van Gorder is on deck and awaiting her turn at bat where she will swing for the fences . Such people are WORSE than losers!
-Might be repetitive, but the people of Alabama who found out their already-a-loser senior senator "The Coach" does not actually live in Alabama anymore.
-The decent people stuck in Florida who found out that's where Tuberville lives now.
-Clarence Thomas, with another tranche of apparently unreported grift (of course we're all the losers there)
Just found this relevant show on the topic of Biden's campaign given his age: Between The Lines has been providing radio programming and online content for decades now. A great group of journos:
‘Step Aside Joe’ Campaign Underscores Risks for Democracy as Biden Runs for Re-election
Interview with Jeff Cohen, co-founder of the online activist group RootsAction.org, conducted by Scott Harris
Former twice impeached President Donald Trump, who already faces 34 felony charges in New York in the hush money adult film star case and 40 federal felony counts for mishandling classified documents, was charged on Aug. 1 with four counts in a second federal indictment for his attempt to overturn the will of the voters in the 2020 presidential election that ended with the violent Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
'Despite being the first former president to face criminal charges in U.S. history, Trump is wildly popular with Republican voters, and is on track to be the GOP’s 2024 presidential candidate.
Although Trump and much of the Republican Party has embraced an explicit white supremacist and anti-democratic agenda, recent polls find that President Joe Biden is in a virtual tie with the former disgraced president, highlighting a lack of enthusiasm among many voters. A late July New York Times/Siena College poll found that 50 percent of Democratic-leaning voters want the party to nominate someone else, as Biden’s approval ratings remain low.'

That’s an excellent addition. Thank you. What legal advice is that man getting? None, I’m guessing.

Kudos to that good neighbor and your wife. And for those not keeping up with Bristol: Wow. https://www.bristoledition.org/blog/2023/08/10/council-meeting-bristles-with-dissatisfaction-over-rtc-decision-to-back-van-gorder-for-the-board-in-november/
My heart goes out to the people of Maui, especially Lahaina. It looks like a war zone.
