Late political operative/prankster Dick Tuck when he conceded after he lost his race for a California state senate seat famously said; “The people have spoken, the stupid bastards!”
Love the assignment! And like Martha said, no one likes a poor sport. Acknowledging losing is something that is not often taught anymore. There’s always an excuse or reason.
That's a great assignment! It's a bit beyond the purview of my Media Literacy class and our "Media & Politics" unit, but I'm going to share the idea with my colleague who teaches Speech and Debate. Very cool!
It's really made them think about the entire process, and not just the messaging and framing. We're going to switch to ad campaigns, right after we look again at social media (can't teach enough about social media). Steal away!
My students just turned in their original political ads after we studied the history of political advertising. And yes, you truly cannot teach enough about social media!

And instead, it's probably best to just admit it, and move on.
I love the sound of your class.
So I'm just adding this link as tangentially relevant, not as some kind of one-upping: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-11-09/election-2022-a-midterm-recount-no-thanks-it-s-bad-for-democracy?sref=GhuK8UZj

Amen.
