Ok… now I am faking I have to sneeze. Beautiful and so very sweet. I am a boy twin with a twin sister. Your descriptions of your grand twins touch my heart and remind me of my sister and me. She was very self assure and I was quiet. She was very protective of me and I was dependent on her. We relied on each other’s strengths. We had, and still do, a unique bond. We are very different people. We fought as kids and still disagree today. But in our 6th decade we always have each other’s backs. I can complain about something she says or does. But don’t let ANYONE else register a complaint… I will stop them in their tracks and she will do the same. The bond and kindnesses you describe (when they aren’t having normal sibling squabbles) are what I relate to and touch me so.
This is beautiful and started my day off with tears. I thought of my kids, who would bicker, but then would include a sentence in the first grade schoolwork like, "I gave my sister a hug because I love her." And sister would be sure to not only get a lollipop for herself when out, but would ask for a second to bring home to her brother.
Thanks for this. I find stories like this, along with the random song, comment, act, etc. increasingly resonant after the past couple of years and current events. It’s impossible to overestimate the importance of appreciation, kindness and grace.
There’s a lyric from the Patty Griffin song “Long Ride Home”.
“How hard would it have been to say some kinder words instead”.
Thanks for writing from your heart. Such a sweet story that will carry you when they are fighting tooth and nail. You will think of this and smile and they will look at you, like you’re crazy.
Siblings are special and as I just lost my brother who was two years younger than me, this story makes me smile through the tears.
I have been to that place and it is magical especially when the butterflies have hatched. I don’t recommend going the end of November, though. 😉
I tried to reply earlier but it wouldn’t let me post. I went right after they reopened from Covid so the supply might have been down. I’d check with the owner.
Thank you for seeing the little miracles in life. And telling the world about them. Such a lovely little story that holds so much. I love you for being who you are. Have a wonderful week.
Oh, this is so … beautiful. Like everyone said. And magical. And a thing of wonder. What a gift you are to us.
Not everyone thinks that, but thank you!
What a beautiful story about love. Thank you for starting our week off with this. ❤️
Well, it was a great start to my week. I figured I’d share.

It’s an incredible bond, isn’t it?

And I thought of growing up with my brother.
I love your story.

Oooh what a joyful tear.
Beautiful Susan. I'm not crying. It's just allergies.
Same here! I'm allergic to...butterflies, I guess.
A beautiful story and the picture of the butterfly was an extra blessing for your readers!

That's funny, because I was thinking of going back up when it's cold. Something about walking through that place has an immediate calming effect.

Tender tears here. Lovely,
Thank you!
Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Thank you so much. Everything I am or hope to be, I owe to my grandchildren.
They really are.
