I can’t imagine what my life might of been like without my Union and my parent’s Unions before that. It’s how I learned to stand up. To sit down, sometimes in the middle of a busy street. To speak out. To link arms. And most importantly, to own my good work.
Leftie labor lawyer Robert Treuhaft* said that the ILGWU was The Best.
The ILGWU mounted a musical called "Needles and Pins." I've never seen it staged, but I got a copy of an audio recording back when I was teaching a first-year seminar on making and evaluating various forms of argument and thinking I might be able to use an excerpt. It wasn't snatch-a-quotable in that way, though, or so I thought. I wish I hadn't lost the recording in the meanwhile.
And getting to comment on the ILGWU finally tipped me over to subscribing. :D
Go, union!
* Not to pretend I'm a labor scholar: I know about Treuhaft's appreciation of unions and the ILGWU only because he was married to muckraker sublime, Jessica Mitford.
Americans have short memories - thanks for this important reminder!
My pleasure, my friend.

That is beautiful.
I also belonged to a union for decades. It ensured that I made the same salary as my male colleagues.
It appears unions are making a comeback, demonstrating the importance of teaching/learning history. Thanks!
This is an important thing, that they may be making a comeback.

There's so much to learn from the labor movement.
This Union iron worker's daughter thanks you for my morning sing along!
Indeed … in deed.
