When they call you names, work it!
One of my favorite things is when an insult is repurposed, as has been “Dark Brandon.” Though we know where the “Brandon” part started, the birth of Dark Brandon is a little unclear, but check out how Biden supporters are putting it to use.
It reminds me of the defiant “Thanks, Obama” memes of just a few years ago, which is cool because this kind of thing is older than the country. Guess where “Yankee Doodle Dandy” came from? The phrase was originally was a homophobic British slur, that became a part of our cultural heritage. Take that, redcoats.

In “Word Histories” nothing leads to the word dandy being a homophobic slur but I suppose one could extrapolate that it does. Maybe this is our modern interpretation of “Dandy.” But is was a slur for sure.
