The weather in Michigan is beautiful. I did a 19 mile bike ride through the corn fields and soy bean fields that bless us in this rural part of the Mitten State. I even ambushed a farmer walking on his way to his bean harvester to ask a couple of questions and thank him for his thankless line of work. We had a nice, but brief chat. He’s probably a red-hat, but for the moment could talk and enjoy each other. Did I mention the weather in Michigan is beautiful right now?

Hang in there, girl. There’s a lot of good stuff out there.

I put mums out even though I hate that they’re the checkered flags for summer.

I do too despite that they even “out-Robert Goulet” the poinsettia for cheap seasonal sentimentality

I have never heard that, out-Robert Goulet, but now I intend to use in in every other sentence.

Sorry it was a tough week. You have my number any time you want. I have two good things: the new Spike Lee documentary is fabulous. And I found out my Provost doesn't hate me.

Mercury is retrograde again! The good news: the new vehicle we ordered months ago will be driven by me tonight.

This morning we found out that instead of being torn down and having a McMansion built in its place, an older house down the street is simply being painted and getting a new roof. What a concept. Repair, reuse, recycle. What joy! No noisy construction, no strange trucks driving in and out of our neighborhood, no needless additional waste!

I love it when old houses get a new life.

Sometimes something good is a wonderful memory. My week has been similar to yours, with the gerbils sucked through a bendy straw. This morning in my Friday chat with baby sister Mickey she reminded me that 50 years ago today our sister Sherri's first day on the job driving a monorail at Disney World. Amazing isn't is that it is also the 50th anniversary of Disney World's opening day? :~)

Twelve days before, September 19th, Sherri turned 16. This beautiful gutsy 16 year old got in the line for a job application and came out with a job driving the monorail. Whew! Sherri made sure the next September when our baby sister Mickey celebrated her 16th birthday that she had an after school job driving the monorail too. These two Irish twins, born 361 days apart did almost everything together. The year after Mickey got her job as monorail driver Disney changed the minimum ages to 18 to drive a monorail.

My two sisters made sure that every trip, at least for ten years, I made from CT to visit them, we went to Disney. We always scraped together enough money for the trip down so $ for fun stuff was thin. But they made sure by saving the employee ride tickets they were given and work friends to sneak us in a side gate that we had a day at the Magic Kingdom. And being the big sister I was the first one to give them a niece to bring along. The smiles, laughs, fun and wonderful memories. And photos, but today, I wish I had more photos in my album. Never enough photos but boat loads of memories!

After spending a couple of days with us, on the way home, a friend lost control of his car in heavy rain and heavy traffic. Spun out across three lanes of traffic without hitting another vehicle. Hit the Jersey barrier/divider multiple times tearing the car apart. He walked away basically unscathed so we’ve all been feeling pretty grateful for him and each other.

Wow. I had an accident like that and I kept checking my son and myself and...nothing! We were a little sore where our seat belts yanked us, but we walked away. The car did not.

While I think that the theology and time travel mechanics of the TV series Lucifer are-- obtuse--, taking those as given, I liked the series windup. It takes its eternity seriously.
