Oh, thank you, Susan for this post. What a hateful, self-absorbed, bigoted POS that man was. And he ruined so many families. I, for one, am glad he's gone. And he ruined the Medal of Freedom for everyone. Blech!
Last night, while thinking all the things you’re not supposed to say out loud about the dead I had this thought. If T**** had been re-elected he would have insisted that Limbaugh lie in state in the Capitol rotunda and if that happened that thousands of white nationalists would have lined up peacefully and patiently to enter the building. Then I realized.that, as if it was an answer to one of those Philosophy 101 exam questions, if forced to choose between the re-election/Limbaugh lying in state and what happened on January 6th that I would choose the 6th. That made me wonder if my thought process was anything like how an abused person processes what they’ve gone through.
Whether it’s Limbaugh or T**** I suspect that the public dialogue will continue to be like siblings disagreeing and fighting over the memory of a father who beat them. Only one accepts the truth and there will be no reunion until the other one does as well.
That pretty much describes my family, anyway. If you are a dittohead, Wednesday was a bad day. I acknowledge that it was a bad day for you, even while it doesn't interrupt my moving through life one bit. I'm not exulting. I'm not throwing a party. It's not like his death clears things up for any one, but it's one less blowtorch of a racist asshole, gone silent.
Maintaining denial is a full time job. Confronted by at least some of the press by the truth about his legacy, I’m waiting to see how his followers and right wing talking heads are going to try to park their grief and misery in the left’s spot.
I was sad to see former Sen. Claire McCaskill show some kindness toward this, though she went to law school with Rushbo's brother so...Plus, she's a classy person but c'mon. He was atrocious.

Couldn't have said it better, myself.
In this case, speaking truth of the dead is the kindest thing we can do.
Someone said (on Twitter, maybe?) that it isn't nice to speak ill of the dead, so let's say something nice: Rush Limbaugh is dead.
That is the perfect ending to your piece. May it be so.
I started hearing that around the time RBG died. It isn’t original with me but GOD I hope someone says it or even thinks it when I shuffle off.

FYI, my deletion was a post that fell victim to my tiny phone keyboard.
