I think that the problematic category is righties, not Christians. I also think that people shouldn't always and only mean rightie Protestants when they say "Christian," which I guess shows how humorless I am.

Ha. Come sit by me. I have a sense of humor, but I am also literal to a fault so there are a lot of jokes I just don't get.

When I was teaching college in the 1990s, one semester I did a seminar on making arguments. One section was about humor. I tried and tried to find funny GOP cartoon, but all I could find was invective. Saying a politician's name in a sarcastic voice passes for humor in such circles, too. I don't get it. No sense of humor.

It is the “righties” that give us Christians a bad name. I belong to an open and affirming UCC church and we certainly do have a great sense of humor and ability to laugh at ourselves.
