"Being the leader of the world means being the leader of peace." (Not sure I have that quote exactly right, nevertheless, it will stay with me.)

I think that’s right, the quote. I couldn’t be more inspired by Pres. Zelenskyy.

I am inspired by this courageous Ukranian leader that was duly elected by his people in a democratic election. I am inspired by the Russian people who have risked their lives and freedom to protest and I am inspired by the incredible Ukrainian people who continue to stand up and fight against all odds. Putin is certainly committing war crimes for which I hope the rest on the world can hold him accountable. My heart breaks and I am sure that the Gods are weeping.

As so often have to I’m typing through blurred eyes; Zelenskyy has spoken to the hearts of European, British, Canadian, American and now German public servants and their constituents alike, and his presence will stand in the pantheon of world leaders that includes the Dalai Lama, Mandela, King, Churchill, Gandhi, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Singh, Washington, Caesar, Asoka and Alexander the Great (I’ll leave the founders of world religions in a pantheon of their own, but gave lumping them all together some serious consideration.)

I learned today from Heather Cox Richardson that 40 American companies are refusing to cut ties with Russia. Foremost among them is Koch Industries of the vile far-right Koch brothers who are responsible for so much misery right here in their own country. They believe the US should be neutral in this conflict. The flames of hell cannot be hot enough for those people.

All of this death and destruction so Putin can redraw his map? It's so awful. That the rest of the world hasn't found a way to stop this sociopath by now is frightening as well.

There's a really interesting story in the Times today. Any time any one talks about "purification," we all should pay attention, the unhinged despot: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/16/world/europe/putin-russia-ukraine-protests.html
