It's almost the news-Gish-gallop. I think there is so much more crap coming in that news outlets don't have time to pay attention. But this struck me as important enough to share here.
It is true that absence of information is not information of absence—— but it’s a conspiratorial framing in which absence of information is proof of powerful existence. Within that framework a lack of information about something— anything— existing is proof of its invidious insidious existence. Pink elephants , Donald John Trump having been assigned female at birth, anything.
And so Occam’s razor is up against big bushy iron beards.
