I agree with you on the Washington Post. I dropped my subscription when Bozos bought it because I just couldn’t trust him. And I want trusted newspapers and media sources. I did have to add up how much I would be losing in free shipping. But then I realized I didn’t give a poop because Bozos lack of honesty carried more weight in my decision. His op-ed directive validated my thoughts. It is such a bleeping shame that the former WP with guts and a spine helped expose the truth about Nixon’s crimes.

Bozos, his billionaire cohorts and orange golfing buddy only understand one language— $. We have to keep translating so they hear the drums beating.

Right. We should remind ourselves that we living in a capitalistic society and our money talks.

My Amazon Prime was set to renew on March 22. I was going to wait until tomorrow, or perhaps Amazon Blackout Day on March ?? to cancel it, but I did it yesterday after Bezos's op-ed decree. I was prepared to give a reason, but nah, they didn't ask.

I already cancelled my WaPo subscription last year when he blocked the editors from endorsing Harris.

I know it's just a drop in the ocean, but I've been a customer since the early days when they only sold books. I helped make him a billionaire, and I can help unmake him.

That's precisely right. We built him. We can unbuild him.

I feel bad for the journalists this will hurt, but I think it's time to cancel WaPo. I haven't bought anything from Amazon since last October and I let my Prime subscription lapse. It was convenient, but I really don't miss it, and there is so much to stream that I don't miss Prime Video as much as I thought I would. I am trying not to give Bezos even one penny.

I did it only after much thought. I hated to do it, in fact.

Cancel WaPo you won’t miss it. I cancelled when Bezos hired Lewis - a Murdoch trashbag .

I DO miss it, because there was some great writing there and that paper has been my North Star since Watergate.

But you know what? There’s great writing on Substack, on Medium, on other more corporate websites that don’t also kiss the king’s ass. So I’m good.

Yuppers. Subscribe & Save has been real helpful with getting supplies for mom regularly (95, dementia, lives w me). Cancelled 80% of them and found alternative options (hello Costco delivers!) Books are ordered from Better World Books (used) now or the LIBRARY! One or two things require me to actually walk to a store. Next on the hit list, switching Moms streaming music from Amazon to something else.

Like you, a small dent, but a stand. A statement. A drop of water does nothing, but over time, drop after drop, you cut through stone.

I've never subscribed to the Washington Post so giving them the boot isn't a necessity. But I have been boycotting Amazon for a gazillion years and Whole Foods since they were bought by Amazon. Reluctantly quoting Nancy Reagan, "JUST SAY NO!"

From Watergate onward, I subscribed to WaPo. I had been increasingly unhappy with the "sanewashing", but killing the endorsement was the last straw: I unsubscribed. A few days later, I received a smarmy little email asking "Did I miss them?" and would I like to reactivate my subscription (since it's paid until later this year). I'm sure my brief but pointed reply was something less than affirming for them (it would likely have gotten me kicked off facebook for a month). I had dropped the NYT even before the Post. I had been a subscriber to both since college; it killed me that they had reached a point requiring that I drop them. The NYT has been slightly better recently; the Post has sunk further. It will take more than a couple of decent weeks to argue for subscribing to the Times. The Post - nope.

In a related vein: tomorrow is the day to NOT buy anything (other than from small, local businesses in your community). Money talks.

Agree, and here's a tip which might help take the sting out of online buying. Needed(OK just wanted) a laser printer. found the exact same model which was on Amazon, on of all places :Dell's and B&H Photo's websites for THE SAME PRICE and with FREE SHIPPING. I must admit to hesitating for a micro second, since A-zon already had all my card info etc. BUt NOPE: went with Dell! Bye Bye Jeffy boy! A little effort but well worth it ,spiritually. So shop around, esp. online.

Nice. That's the thing. We who have been attached to the corporate teat just have to learn to widen our shopping.

As did I and I read that Amazon’s second quarter earnings are down. Keep up the good work.

BTW: Walmart, Starbucks and Target get nothing from me either. The two former because they under pay their employees and over pay their CEOs and Target (like the other two) withdrew their DEI policies.

No Wash Post for me, I quit after the Harris endorsement was blocked. Stopped buying from Amazon and just getting by doing with less stuff. This latest move by Bezos is awful --- I can't figure out if he's trying to sink the paper or turn it into Fox in Print. Remember: Friday is Economic Boycott Day! Swords Up.

Don’t feel bad for the people the boycotts might hurt; I’m one of them and I support people’s right to choose where they spend their money. The employees see very little benefit from their hard work. They’re treated like pawns in a chess game and work with substandard equipment in unsafe conditions. There’s lots of anger and frustration about upper management et al. Power to the people.

We quit the WPost a while ago... (Was it after the Harris endorsement fiasco?). It still makes me sad. But there is plenty else to read...here's to a blackout day, today.
