My semester starts in three weeks and I’M NOT READY (I never am, but somehow, things work out fine). It’s hotter than a $3 pistol (you probably can’t buy a pistol for $3 any more) and along about 4 p.m. every day these past few weeks, I retire to my couch under a fan and think fevered thoughts.
So here’s what I think might be a great stress-reliever, which I stole off Twitter. Every time I feel the temperature rising, I will make a small contributions to someone’s political campaign. Val Demings? Mark Kelly? Trudy Busch Valentine — though I wish it was Kunce? Marcus Flowers? Tim Ryan? Tina Kotek? John Fetterman? And — what the hell — Liz Cheney?
It won’t be a lot. I have bills. But I think that will make me feel loads calmer.
I should probably run for something maybe I’d get a contribution if your hot and cranky.
For myself, I find that nothing relieves the wheels-spinning sense of impending doom better than action that makes things better. That's one reason I find organic gardening/farming so healing. And I'm with you on the small contributions to candidates!
