I feel the same way about Texas. It pains me to watch it happening. But in reality it's always been there under the surface. Heather Cox Richardson is right, the South did win the Civil War.
In the wake of yet another gun "accident," Jim Wright (Stonekettle Station) reminds us about a series he wrote in 2012 and updated in 2015. Short version, there are no gun "accidents." There is gun negligence when a gun owner fails to follow one of the NRA's own rules about safe gun ownership and handling. It's felony negligence if somebody is injured including the gun owner. It's negligent homicide if somebody dies. If children are able to access a weapon because the owner failed to properly secure it, it's felony child endangerment. At least, that's the way it would be in a sane world. https://www.stonekettle.com/2015/06/bang-bang-sanity.html
I think it was right after Marjory Stoneman Douglas that my friend the Shootin' Pastor asked on his fb whether all his gun-toting friends couldn't agree to keep their weapons locked. One of them said, No, because he needed many guns readily accessible for all the home invasions.
It makes you wonder if the guy really believes there is a high probability he will experience a home invasion or he's hoping for an opportunity to shoot at someone.
this is the "show me" state so I would like Jed (the Guv) and Jethro (the Rep) to show me their brains - but then I remembered when they were born their Dad's stood before God and God said here are your sons brains, both Dad's said "no thanks they already have a set of trains."
My grandpa used to make that joke and I’d argue against it but the bill’s lead sponsor is an idiot in the first degree and the governor is his close second. I will say that at least the Clampetts were kind. And they had common sense. These folks? Not a lick of either.

Thank you for this. I’m a big admirer of Jim Wright. And watching a state I love separate itself from its senses pains me to no end.

Just fancy his house.

I’m guessing the latter.
'zackly.
I wouldn't want to be his mail carrier or FedEx or UPS delivery guy.
And just fancy all the illusory invaders, like mites in cheese.
I wouldn't want to be his neighbor, either.
Look at that responsible armed seven-year-old.

It's times like this I wish there were minimum intelligence & knowledge requirements in order to run for public office.
Remember when Obama got in trouble for his "clinging to guns and God" comment? AKA: the truth.
I DO remember. What a crock that was.
