I stand with E. Jean Carroll
The former Elle writer is in my heart this week; the Iowa GOP can bite me
As Iowa Republicans congratulate themselves on picking a raping racist who happens also to be a fraud in business as their frontrunner for president, that raping racist who happens also to be a fraud in business is heading into court today to pay the piper for defaming a woman he sexually assaulted.
Life is funny, isn't it?
Today, TRRWHATBAFIB is back in court, this time in a defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll, who earlier proved in court that Whoozit had sexually assaulted her in the ‘90s.
For an excellent explanation of today’s case, go here. From that link at Just Security:
Regardless of whether Americans’ impressions of Trump will be affected by the results of the federal trial being held this month in New York, he appears likely to lose in the courtroom. Barring something unforeseeable, Carroll is likely to receive further vindication and a hefty sum in compensatory damages. The big questions are how much, and whether the jury will also award punitive damages. Before those decisions are made, the most significant open question is how Trump might conduct himself in the courtroom. There is every reason to anticipate Judge Kaplan exercising judicious control over the courtroom, and for the American public to see the legal system operate, in this case, according to its ideals.
Because Whatsit does not feel shame, he was not content after the original court decision to shut up and pay the piper. Instead, he went on social media and elsewhere and defamed Ms. Carroll, who (this is why I’m on Team Carroll) responded with a lawsuit. Carroll’s team has asked the trial judge to enforce strict limits on what the Perennial Defendant can say. We wish U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan the best of luck on that, and are pleased to see Goober hauled back into court over his rash and ugly statements re; Carroll.
Here he is deriding her at a public event.
Here he is arguing he had presidential immunity (and the court saying no).
How much will he owe for this crappy behavior? I believe the legal phrase is “a shit-ton.” Go, E. Jean. You are an inspiration to people who need to see someone stand up and say no. Just? No. Would that Iowa’s Republicans took a page from your book, saw this fraud for what he is, and sent him back to the cave from which he came.
After AP and other news outlets called the Republican Iowa caucus for the Republicans’ favorite raping racist fraud, I shouted a few of my favorite cuss words, but then I settled down: Thaaat’s right, Iowa. Tee him up. Do that. You are on the wrong side of history as your leader has had to start defending his gross and illegal acts in courts up and down the map. History will not laugh or applaud you.
The man, and those who vote for him, are like a pharmacy that sells only poison and ipecac. Once again I say, I do not understand. Sigh. And I am with Ms. Carroll, also.
It’s a remarkable thing to realize idiocy is contagious. ?!/($& idiots.
