Thank you for your service!

But even more for saying "For people who want this all to be finished, like, yesterday, this is a good primer on the wheels of justice moving slowly — when a case is being built."

It's unfortunate that Dems and other lefties have been convinced to dismiss Dem government because it doesn't move at the speed of autocracy.

Speed of autocracy. I glean so many nuggets from these comments that I then try to pass off as my own creation. We want the wheels of justice to grind slowly, in this case. We want everything done properly and then we want Trump to bear the burden of his crimes.

"The reality is that every t must be crossed, i must be dotted, and criminal held accountable for crimes committed." Yes. A thousand times yes. Can this be pinned to the top of twitter - above the endless shrieks for instant gratification that would undoubtedly result in an unsuccessful prosecution?

And as I wrote "the speed of autocracy" I thought, "There's a mot for Susan." :D

So we both understand I don’t have original thoughts but I am good at recognizing them in others.

What??!! I have your GOP imitation!

Just to be careful: you know I don't think that, right?

Not at all. That’s just me acknowledging how much I learn from here, in a completely backward way of acknowledgement.

...and of course we want to have precisely the same tender attention paid to the state of mind of *all* accused where the law related to what they're accused of entails intention.

PREcisely. Everyone gets a fair trial. Even the assholes who tried to overthrow the government.

I will read this document - more than thanks for sending. As always your comments and image inspiring descriptions make my morning. Your final comment ". . . the invasion and carnage in Ukraine, keep reminding yourself that these two events are connected by a bright white ribbon." has been floating around in my grey matter for several days. It's real. It's terrifying.

Elections and actions both have consequences. God help us had TFG stolen the election, as he planned to do.

I like to think that NATO and the EU would have pulled together even without us, but who knows. Sure would like to know what deal Trump made with Putin in Helsinki in 2018.

Wouldn't THAT be fascinating? I'd be interested if you read this filing to hear what you thought about it.

Indeed THAT would be fascinating. I have a burning need to hear/read that conversation. If only interpreters could speak.

My guess is the Russians have a recording of it. Maybe even the Finns.

You're probably right about the Russians having a recording. How would we get a recording from the Finns?

I wondered a bit about just what the real status of this attorney client claim was. I am amazed the defendant actually paid any of these attorneys a dime. It gives validity to adage you get what you pay for.

It's an interesting read, actually. I don't see Eastman et al's point, but it's still an interesting read.

Assuming that Garland will drag his feet and say that he’s waiting for the committee to report out, hopefully this puts some momentum behind reforming the Electoral Count Act at least. McConnell, Collins (I’m sure she’s “bothered” and maybe even “troubled” over the court filing) and a few others are open to the possibility. It’s a long shot but maybe a little less long now. I know it’s not comprehensive reform but it’s an important piece. I fear ending up empty handed after all of this. I’d love to see prosecutions but I can’t pin my hopes on them anymore. Here’s a link to an two month old article that lays it out including concerns/objections of some Dems.

The filing is an incredibly detailed takedown of a jackass. I really was impressed. AGAIN: NOT A LAWYER but have read enough court filings to shiver with delight at a well-written one.

My pleasure. The bulk of the filing is really just boilerplate stuff -- attorney info, etc. So it wasn't that heavy a lift.

Ha. I have no lawyer muscles, but scratch any journalists and you'll get a lawyer, a novelist, and/or a big ol' snot ball who wants to look smart.
