Yet despite McCarthy’s best efforts, people don’t love him and right now, that particular position is up in the air — he cannot afford to lose more than four Republicans in the vote — and so I volunteer to step in and straighten things out.
I’m lying, of course. But if you could hand-pick a Republican for Speaker of the House, who would you pick? (And yes, it has to be a Republican.)
Susan I am fairly certain you could get well over 218 people to agree you are a better person than Qvin MacCarthy. Failing that I think Kinzinger would work for them but no one can corral the crazy train
Actually, you don’t have to be a sitting congressperson to be elected speaker. The constitution is silent on that, so theoretically Kinzinger could be speaker, though highly unlikely. The clown caucus was throwing around Trump’s name a few months ago.
I say we pick 4 or 5 of the biggest goofballs in and around the GQP and tell each of them that the others were picked by the democrats to make them look bad

Yeah, and Kinzinger is on his way out. Pity.

Whoa! You're right! https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/can-outsider-be-speaker-house-n441926 So I STILL HAVE A SHOT!!!! (Watching this on CNN and it looks like a clown car going over a cliff.
Here’s an interesting rundown of possibilities from “The Hill”.

Are you watching this? I'm seeing the second speaker ballot and it looks like McCarthy still isn't going to be the Speaker.
Off and on. Home, listening in the truck. Crazy town. Did Jordan vote for himself on the second ballot?

That almost feels like what’s going on now.
It’s going to be a shitshow anyway
Why not try to enjoy some of the insanity
That’s what I have a hard time doing. I took that previous shit show personally.
I know for a fact goofballs hate being laughed at
It’s tough to be taken seriously when people are laughing at you
I DID laugh sometimes but it was always with the understanding that the stupidity from the White House was affecting people and not in a good way.
I say we go full-insanity and vote in MTG. It’s going yo be a total waste of tax payer dollars let’s make it crude and entertaining.
Ha. Except we already had her, in Trump form. I’m not sure could take a re-do.
True but she would guarantee a level of chaos the GOP needs to assure revenue growth at Fox News.
True. And we can’t have Fox going out of business…
I pick nurse Ratchet! Who better to rule over the “Cuckoo’s Nest?”
Oh heck- why not😆
Good choice!
Is the attitude toward TFG sufficiently negative to ensure they won't try to hand him the gavel??
The Representatives can choose anyone they want: it does not have to be a Republican :D
Then I'm still in the running!
(JK)
Marjorie Taylor Greene. Yep good ole MTG.
Can you imagine the hilarity!
A bumbling, neurotic knucklehead, exposed. Yikes!!!
It would be entertaining to me for about 10 minutes, I think.
Okay, okay I relent…I select George Santos…double yikes
Ha.
Lincoln.
I feel he'd make a better Speaker, even dead, than the current crop.
I can't think of one. Apparently the Republicans can't agree on one either. So, you, an outsider, would be perfect!
I'd be great at it, because...well, I wouldn't be great at it because words like "compromise" and "debate" give me gas. So never mind.
OMG!!!!!
All GOP alternatives are horrible!

Yeah. I read that. Yikes.
