Given the several references to Bret Kavanaugh, I think it is worth pointing out that not once did Judge Jackson break down in tears because some Senators were being mean to her.

Nor has she mentioned that she likes beer.

That makes me realize that an opposite response would expose her to the angry Black woman stereotype. It’s like she’s walking a sexist, racist, tightrope. Barf Kavanaugh didn’t have to worry about that. And people say white privilege isn’t a thing.

Precisely. If she responds as most any one would in the face of such ignorant accusations (Sen. Graham will go to hell, just based on today, as if there wasn't a seat there for him already.) then she's an angry black woman, as opposed to a woman reacting to unjust accusations. It's unfuckingbelievable.

It's late. While it doesn't take away from your original post Vinny, we now know that Judge Jackson can be driven to tears during the hearing. By kindness and gratitude.

That was so moving. It’s tomorrow’s post.

"no one is paying to hear the journalists talk" - pithy argument that Fox "News" doesn't hire journalists.

Forget Comey Barrett, Kavanaugh & Gorsuch; I wanted her to quote Thomas: “ And from my standpoint, as a black American, as far as I'm concerned it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you.”

And as the smartest, wisest, and most well-mannered person in the room I hope every child of every gender, race, color and creed study her answers for the rest of humanity; Fred Rogers’ mother would recognize Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson from three clouds away, and even Ben Sasse (no paragon of virtue himself) pretty much told Rafael Edward to STFD & STFU.

I thought about that, the high-tech lynching thing. Jesus H., we have to get this right.

Thank God for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, or as Jessica Mason Pieklo calls him, Senator Rumpled Hotness. So smart, so decent, so straightforward.

Sent. Rumpled Hotness. I love that (but I hope he wouldn't take offense. I love how he calls it all back to the task at hand.

I think that what the GOP is now overtly advertising is Power Itself. In an Old Time Religion/Patriarchy/Racism/Fascism way.

So not a bug but a feature, I think.

Certainly not a bug. They appear to revel in it.

Fox Noise doesn't pay for soundbites?

From what I've read, they've helped create plenty of soundbites for their next Dem opponent. And all this concern theater about pedophiles will make an interesting contrast with clips of their defense of Gym Jordan, Matt Gaetz, and others I probably haven't heard about yet.

The list is long, the one you started, and yes, the hypocrisy hurts. I so admire the judge for her restraint.

I about lost it with Tom Cotton's “simple”, “more or less” questions. Cotton, Cruz, Hawley, Kennedy. Are there courses at Harvard, Yale and Oxford in “Condescension, bullying and how to appeal to the base”?

They did the same thing to the recent US ambassador to the United Nations because she once supported an educational program in colleges funded by China.

I missed that. Yeesh. Were they being anti-China, or were they at their go-to stance, anti-education?

To me they were being both anti China which to them means Communism and anti Education since the Confucius Institute was a program in a number of universities that now have been forced to stop their programs due to pressure and fear. Look at Ted Cruz interviewing at that time UN candidate for UN ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield. At about 1:48 hour mark below: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FgAO7vBx7ts

Again you are reading my mind. And to day it's Sit Down Senator Graham. We don't need or want a power point presentation mansplaining the law on anything. And certainly Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson could explain it much better than you can imagine. If you had an imagination. In addition please stop interrupting her!!!!! And everything else Susan Campbell said.
