Aw, absolutely you are loved by your dear grandson. Thanks for sharing this post today. Happy Valentine's Day to you, Susan, and all these lovely folks here. Cheers!
And I love this post. "I’ve done all this before and I know how fast it goes..." God, so true. My kids are 18, 20 and 24 now and I think about this everyday. Like a dream.
I love THIS post so much. "I've done this before and I know how fast it goes." Oh my god, Susan. This makes me tear up. Mine are 18, 20, and 24 now and I think about that almost everyday. Like a dream.
There's nothing like a Grandmother's love. My relationship w/ my Mother was complicated but I was everything to her Mother and that meant everything to me.
It's wonderful to see the affection it's not risky to express. :)
As a late-breaking mother, I think I get many of the benefits (and bag-holdings) of grandparenting. Ain't it grand?
About a year and half ago I told my son that fb reminded me that, when he was seven, he'd said, "Ummah, I think you and me were made to be together." Fifteen-year-old Chun Woo said, "Sounds about right." And the other day he told me that he knew lots of people who share my politics, but they're all his age, not mine. :D Honors, honors. :) (At this point his politics are much like mine, but they weren't always, and they can change again.)
They were hanging from their swing set. The girl-child, as you can see, was looking at the ground because she was pretty sure she'd fall (she didn't). The boy child was looking at me.Happy Valentine's Day.
I recently found a self portrait drawing my daughter made years ago, with "Hellow! my name is -- and I like Hearts and Stars" in a speech bubble. I think the "like" was tied to her new skill of knowing how to draw hearts and stars. It was the cutest, despite the dinosaur arms and set of teeth that would make a Great White Shark jealous! I miss those days, when she would make pictures for me and leave "I love you Mom" notes.
Happy valentine's day Susan. Your grandkids are lucky to have you!
I think it’s the other way around, but thank you.

MWAH! Cheers back.

It's ridiculously fast. I can remember people telling me -- "Enjoy this because it's gone tomorrow." In the arrogance of youth, I ignored them.

Same here. Maybe my own grandmother felt more comfortable as a grandmother than she did as a mother. She was quite a good grandmother.

Fred was THE dude.

That’s just the best. I think late-breaking parents can be calmer, which allows you to enjoy the ride a little more.
'Zactly! I had late breaking parents and definitely knew my advantages in them.
You are blessed as are they! Enjoy every moment because it does go too fast. ❤️
Amen.
That's absolutely the sweetest! The photo is so cute, too! They sure do grow up fast. Happy Valentine's Day!

This weekend, my son made me a fancy dessert. I took it as one of his love notes from long ago.
Happy VD!
Backatcha!
Happy Valentine's Day, Susan!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
I’m following my own grandmother’s lead.
