Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney has been outspoken about the former president’s crimes and misdemeanors for a while now, and she serve on the Jan. 6th committee that’s investigating the insurrection. She is one of two Republicans to do so.
Today, she faces a primary in her home state. The other Republican on the Jan. 6th select committee, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, is not running for reelection.
One of Cheney’s opponent in the primary is Trump-endorsed, and the expected winner because, well, Wyoming.
Here’s Liz’s dad stumping for her:
Most major media outlets predict that she will not win — but they also hint that Cheney’s political life is far from over, as reported in this Washington Post story. If you stroll through Cheney’s House website and look at her stance on various issues, you might not agree with much of what she says or what she votes for, but it is hard to ignore this placing of country over party. It’s cost her a lot. We dip our swords just a little in her direction.
If I lived in WY -- I can't imagine what circumstances would lead to that, but if I did -- I'd register as R to vote for her today.
I actually donated to her campaign. If I lived there I would switch parties just to vote for her in the primary.
