Ghislaine Maxwell should testify before Congress
And let House Republicans explain their recent votes to block the release of the rest of the Epstein files
You probably already know that the Republicans in the House voted 211 (to 210) to keep the Epstein files (including what is most assuredly a list of clients who raped girls) secret.
The Democratic amendment was tacked onto a cryptocurrency bill.
(Nine Republicans and two Democrats didn’t cast a vote, and I would like a note from each of their mothers as to why.)
This vote tally is not a surprise, though Republican mouthpieces from Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-Georgia) on have chirped publicly that we need to see the list, and then they voted to not release it. This is not a surprise, but is a stark reminder that many people in the Republican leadership hasn’t a shred of moral fiber among them, and it also shows they’re completely out of step with their constituents.
Now Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirator, has said she would be willing to testify before Congress. Maxwell was convicted in 2022 for child sex trafficking, and she’s spending the next 20 years in prison for that. The Epstein sex trafficking ring had at least 1,000 victims but so far, Maxwell is the only person to be convicted of charges related to the dirty business.
Epstein died while in federal custody. Did he kill himself? The FBI said yes, and earlier this month, the FBI also said there is no client list after months of suggesting that yes, there is.
So yes. There is. Ironically enough, two of the key ingredients in this shit sandwich, according to Axios (linked above), were singing quite a different tune before they were welcomed into the inner Trump circle:
As social media influencers and activists, Kash Patel (now the FBI's director) and Dan Bongino (now deputy director) were among those in MAGA world who questioned the official version of how Epstein died.
The House Speaker, for cryin’ out loud, wants the files made public. Even Missouri’s nutless cracker, Sen. Josh Hawley, thinks we need to know more.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice, headed by Pam Bondi, who has taken the lead in insisting there is no list, has asked the Supreme Court to deny Maxwell’s plea to have her conviction overturned.
But…but…but…here’s a letter Pamela Jo send in February, so if you are confused, come sit by me.
So again: Who are you going to believe? The Trump administration, or your own lyin’ eyes?
To paraphrase James Baldwin... "I can't believe what you say because I see what you do."
There is no bottom to the cesspool of MAGA yet the outflow is contaminating the world we live in!
