Olga and I are excited about the solar eclipse. Olga even bought some eclipse-watching glasses to be safe when we step out on Monday (she's on Spring break from her elementary school job, so both of us will be home!). We know we're not in the main eclipse zone (where I hear hotel costs for the curious are ridiculous) but we'll see what we can see! (And for us Jesus is on the scene every time someone does a "little bit of justice" for someone else. I think something like that is what you mean, Susan, when we leave behind the notion of the "angry God." Too much of that floating around the world these days.
I am horribly nosy. And very curious about the internal experience of worshiping an angry God.
If you'd be willing to talk about it at all, I'd be grateful. My best guess is that it's like being a child with Heisenberg's Earthquake/Hurrican parents.
An angry God watches you, waiting, clipboard in hand, to mark down when you've erred (sinned). An angry God lies in wait to catch you and then sends you to hell.
I am in the Buffalo, NY area for a family event till Saturday. Schools here are closed on Monday and most stores are closed between 2:30-4 PM for the eclipse. The signs on the NY Thruway keep flashing —“Solar Eclipse Monday, Arrive Early and Stay Late.” I will be back in CT Saturday. I plan on leaving early Monday morning and heading NW towards NY’ state’s totality zone somewhere. Wish me luck.
Yeah, I'm hoping this manifestation of the divine is more a splendid celebration than a portent of apocalypse. tbh, this reminds me that when Jesus asks me "So, did you fed my sheep?," my answer is half-assed at best. 😧🕊
An eclipse of the sun is a pivotal event in "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." https://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/174/a-connecticut-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court/3049/chapter-6-the-eclipse/
Oooh! That's right!

How wonderful you two can share this. I’ll be out back of my local library, watching through those glasses.
I’m not worried about an angry god. I’ll have my eclipse sunglasses on, s/he won’t recognize me.
Because you’ll be ultra-cool!

There is no future with an angry God.
Thank you. Was Jesus any relief?
Yes. "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" hinted that there was a kinder deity there for the taking.

That's just the most awesome thing.

Miracles! 😎 Have a great weekend.
Ah, miracles😎
So. If the rapture occurs on Monday, that means things should start improving on Tuesday. Yes? Please?
