If you had to choose one line that best defined this past week, what would it be?
For me, the most memorial line comes from Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, who with his cohorts just keep churning out the next ad for Democratic candidates. On Thursday, before the House voted to extend government funding and keep things open until March, Roy said:
Jeanette, speaking of free to live, I crack up every time I see one of New Hampshire’s “Live Free or Die” license plates. If that’s true, why do they succumb to the tyranny of the DMV? Instead, how about bumper stickers, “I’ll register my car when you pry my cold, dead fingers from the steering wheel”? Now that’s saying something!
I remember reading a feature story ages ago that pointed that out (the story was about a young person who couldn't get proper medical care because the entire state was more interested in living free).
After spending three or four hours one night trying to find a motel that would take me without prior reservation, in New Hampshire, when I think of that license plate slogan I think it should read "Live here or die."
I was a public librarian on the Seacoast for a couple of years, and I'm fairly certain that at least one older patron was living 'rough,' out in the woods somewhere. Another was living out of her car for about a year but did finally get set up with housing. Smart woman, proficient with computers, but lost a job and the rest of the dominoes came down on her.
I'm going w/ a Nikki Haley reference too. Dana Bash, in an interview, asked "How do you feel about your party's front runner being held liable for sexual abuse?" Haley's response "I haven't paid attention, I'm not a lawyer, etc." then ended with "You've got an investigation on Trump and Biden". As if there's an equivalency there. I've always like Dana Bash but was furious she didn't point out the clear differences between the minor investigation into Biden not returning some documents and all of Trump's cases.
I can't find the word-for-word, but it had to be when Trump attorney Alina Habba started to read from a document that had not been admitted into evidence, and the judge had to stop her and call a recess so she could brush up on her Rules of Evidence.
I'm going to cheat and go with "literally everything that came out of the mouth of the new owner of the Baltimore Sun when first addressing the staff."
Nikki Haley , who came in third place in Iowa , says it’s now a two person race
I missed that one! How’d I miss that one?
It’s been quite a week for her
She has shown that she has no knowledge of history , and her math skills suck
But other than that, I really like her...well, I don't like much about her politics so let's leave that dangling, shall we?
Let's not forget that the Civil War was just about fighting to be free to live however we want, but apparently slavery had nothing to do with it.

Oh, yes! Grew up spending summers there. I have always found tgat license either amusing or annoying, depending on my mood.
Thomas, you’re generous to say Haley has no knowledge. She knows, she’s just a liar counting on the ignorance and/or denial of the base.
“We have met the enemy and he is us”.
Indeed.

"I haven't paid attention" pretty much sums up her approach to working with and for and by Trump.

Lord. Wasn’t that painful?

Indeed.
It’s a tie between the top Republican brainiacs’ comments after the Iowa vote:
Trump- This is the 3rd time we’ve won, but this is the biggest win.
Haley- I can safely say tonight the Iowa caucus turned this into a two person race.
Both apparently tripped over a steaming pile of number 2! Trump has won only 2 times in Iowa. Haley seemed clueless that she came in not 2nd but 3rd.
