I swear, I think some people like the wired feeling of thinking they're in constant danger. Just like some people enjoy feeling angry. I suspect they're low energy with these things and could do with some medication.

But first let's put much tighter regulations on gun ownership and storage, and give the makers and sellers some accountability for use.

Indeed! Shoot! Don’t we need anything else than feeling in danger! Maybe we fill the air with compassion, but don’t be fooled, mundane folks can be evil. Ask my husband’s family in Eastern Europe; oh, yeah, you can’t! All but his pop and his pop’s brother are alive. Their advice? Watch. Absorb. Be ready. RRR

If "more guns" made us safer, this would be the safest country on earth. Ask every pro-gun, anti-life politician, "How many more guns do we have to have before we have enough to make us safe?" Make them put a number on it.

That's a great response and I'm stealing it.

Credit to Jon Stewart. He asked it of one of the pro-gun politicians.

I was thinking today that I will be going to work overseas for a week and realize I won’t have to worry about being killed by a gun while I’m not in the USA. I didn’t even know that this worry was a niggle in the back of my head till today. We are all under threat from the proliferation of guns in this society. When the hell does this STOP?!?!

While it’s wrong to project what’s wrong with a group on a single member of that group, the last time I was in Europe I I lost track of how many times I was asked what was the deal with Americans and guns. The only thing I could come up with is that’s it’s a sickness that we can’t seem to cure.

Do we fight fire with fire , or kill then with kindness? Do we or will we ever know how these lockdowns and school shootings will affect our children’s lives now and in future?

My littles in the new Florida-ish country clearly show the signs of lethargy and laissez faire syndrome. They say, “Nini, so what?” And, “Nini, it just doesn’t matter,” when we ask them what they think about their future. Rats and rattlesnakes. We need to find something to re-enliven their magical lives, pull them back from the shadows of hopelessness. But how? Will you ask your students to help us?

We need to connect them with networks of caring-social-perception so they have the ability to better interpret the social interactions and behaviors around them. Are we not first relational? Are we not fundamentally social folks? If we synchronize ourselves with those around us, our brains automatically and rapidly initiate connections between our brains and other brains, our perceiving bodies and other perceiving bodies, and so on. The spaces around us, in my mind, are loaded with seeds of inclusion and are alive with crackling routes of information and moods. Ugh, I’ll stop here. As they say, “don’t get me started.” I humbly apologize for this rant. I feel better now!

Geesh, I’m preaching to the choir.....Hallelujah. Hi ho ⚔️

My grandson said if there’s a real shooter, he is going out the window. That he has even planned that…

I think they reach a point (I am speaking for my own grandchildren here) that they become sort of numb. But what do I say to that, "No! Follow your teacher's instructions!" or "Yes! Run like hell!"

😥 I'm so sorry your grandson has played it out in his mind. (But of course he, and probably every kid, has.)

None of it is ok and yet not a damn thing is done. Until the politicians who protect the gun industry over people are voted out, I don't see a path to better times.

It sure isn’t. I wish I knew how to solve this. Republicans took guns and fear and ran with it so hard, because they had nothing else to run on. Now it’s become a living nightmare.

We are at a point of no return. Oh but wait, we have returned, yes the days of the wild, wild west are back ONLY in EVERYTOWN, USA! Trigger happy wack jobs, armed and dangerous, surround us waiting for a cross eyed look, a horn toot, a unexpected knock on the door, a u-turn in a driveway and POW - SHOOT, Ready, Aim....damn the consequences, just go to court plead not guilty and wait for 'justice' to be done! Meanwhile, ICU's are taking in the innocents, families are burying loved ones and Wayne LaPierre continues serving the ammosexuals! Yes Virginia, there was a Santa Claus BUT he went down the wrong chimney and now the elves are in mourning!

This is the same old nonsense of "thoughts and prayers" that the Republican foist upon us every time there is a shooting. My Congressional delegation (House Rep. and both Senator) support increased gun control.

In the most recent shooting in MO and NY, the shooters need to be prosecuted to the fullest of the law. Period. It may not stop the shootings, but maybe people will think twice before doing that.

The NRA has programmed so many people to think that even a discussion about guns violates 2A.
